The only downside I can think of is that the number dials can be stiff at times and hard to turn. But honestly the quality outweighs that minor inconvenience greatly.

G. King: Quite heavy-duty (listed 7 out of 10). No way a bolt-cutter could break. Not as heavy or bulky as the locks rated higher and doesn’t require a key (which can get misplaced or damaged). I bought two.

Tom: I've been using the KryptoLok Combo for about ten years with a lock on three bikes, each set to the same combo. Never had any of the combination problems reported in other reviews. The rubber bumpers do eventually wear out due to weathering, but the resultant rattling can be fixed by small o-rings from the hardware store. The unlock button eventually broke off on one lock, but I purchased another, and relegated the broken one to locking up a little used item in the basement. I suggest memorizing a pattern of locking/unlocking the lock where each cylinder is rotated a fixed number of clicks in either an up or down direction. I use such a pattern and don't look at the combo dial when locking/unlocking - in fact I can't even read it without putting reading glasses on. I've noticed using this fixed pattern that no one has ever messed with the combo dial. When I first got these I imagined a thief sitting there going through all 10,000 combos, but apparently no one ever tries that.

Snake Doctor:
I spent a long time researching bike locks. I was trying to balance price, weight, size, stowing method, and of course, security/strength. Every lock seems to have its faults and you certainly can't have it all. A couple of words of wisdom:
- Unless your bike is particularly attractive, you just need to be more secure/harder to steal than the other bikes on the rack. And there will almost always be people with worse locks than this one (or locks that are used incorrectly).
- I highly recommend using the "Sheldon Brown Lock Technique" (Google it) with any U-Lock you buy.
- Having any lock is better than no lock. In the time I spent researching, I could have been taking my bike out!
I love that this is a combo lock so that I don't have to carry a key with me. I bought the Kryptonite Kryptoflex 1007 Bicycle Security Cable (10mm x 7-Foot) to go with it, thinking it would be useful to lock the front wheel as well, but honestly that's more pain than it's worth.
I for one like the mounting bracket that comes with this lock. Make sure though that you will have enough room on your frame with the lock in the bracket to put a water...

Brad Hendrickson:
The biggest selling point for me on this was it being a combo lock -- hard to pick, hard to forget a key. The combination is user-(re)settable, so just use something memorable -- e.g., the last four of your SS number, or PIN, or phone number, etc. -- and you're good to go. You can, as one reviewer mentioned, loan it out easily. Or somebody can pick your bike up for you if need be. The advantages to a key-less lock are myriad, and overall I am quite pleased.
Kryptonite ranks this lock's Security Rating as an 8 on a 1-12 scale. That...seems about right. Don't leave it overnight in a high-crime area it as the only thing between your fancy-pants $3k carbon fiber road bike and an aspiring acquisitionist, but as a decidedly reliable, that-ain't-goin'-anywhere lock, it's long enough to secure your frame and front tire(!) to something solid, and it strikes me as strong enough to deter a would-be thief into finding easier prey (and, let's be honest: that's really what this is about).
Aside from the underwhelming mounting instructions, the one rather small downside is that when locked, the U still has enough play to wiggle and rattle a small bit whilst...

James D. Henry: A great lock, make sure to keep it lubricated so that it doesn't freeze up.
