DK: Bought this to treat what I think is for my son’s pet African Dwarf Frog’s fungus. It slowly started developing a cottony fuzz around its body. At first we thought it was shedding but it got bigger until it covered almost its whole body. We have a 3 gal tank, took out filter and put in amount for 2 gal according to directions (took rocks and decor into consideration). 2 days later, poof, our cotton ball turned into a frog again. Now we are doing half water changes every few days until we are back to normal water color and will put in a new filter. Be aware it stains the poop out of everything.

Svatoplukian: I'll be truthful here, but I was close to taking this stuff internally because I had heard all these fascinating stories of health benefits. But I couldn't quite do it because the purity of this brand can't be guaranteed. So, while it's cheaper, it's safer to go with the more expensive stuff.

Tina WilsonTina Wilson: I've been using methylene blue for a long time. I use it for fungus on my fish if I notice a little bit starting or if their coat starts getting a little slimy. I usually try this before I try anything else. Or if for some reason my nitrates or nitrite spike I'll use this a little bit for some added oxygen if my fish start getting stressed out or are already stressed out. This has always worked very well for me. I've never had any fish stressed out about it. No headshaking ever like what happens when I add metronidazole or praziquantal or other meds.
Methylene blue has also never hurt my pond plants. I don't pour it directly in my pond. It's always been in the hospital tank. I did recently use it when I bought some water hyacinth from a pond shop. I always bring them home and put them in a container with grow lights and heat to make sure that they don't have a bunch of snails and dragonfly nymphs and whatever else there is on those things. Well, I ended up having a bunch of baby fry fish hatch from these plants. About a week later the little fry baby's started turning white and dying. I wasn't really sure what to due because I didn't want to kill these plants that I just spent...
