SML Dave: Our Kohler shower valve started leaking about about a drop per minute about 7 years after it was installed. I went to the Kohler site to confirm the parts that were required for the replacment. I had purchased a non-genuine equivalent to this kit first (about $40 vs. $60 for the genuine kit), installed it, and it leaked through - about one drop every two minutes. I returned it and purchased this genuine kit. It was hard to distinguish this kit from the other. The packaging and the kit did not give me confidence that it was genuine Kohler. But it did work and after two weeks, is not leaking through. I am not sure I needed the entire kit as there are two main components, along with O-rings and a mounting washer. The part that is not connected to the actual valve handle appears to not have any moving parts and maybe did not require replacment. My housing was very clean and there was no buildup of hardness or particulate matter. The rating on easy to install of 3 stars is fairly subjective. I am not the handiest when it comes to this type of work, but I was able to figure it out. I used plenty of silicone gel which I purchased separately on the o-rings. book reader: So I'm a senior female and this was easy to install. Must admit I put it in upside down the first time, but was easy to correct my mistake!! works perfect. So nice to have an easy solution for handle spinning issue. Note to self -- always check for the little black piece that fits inside the handle on a Kohler handle. The key to longevity of handle turns without spinning.

AM: After serving at least 6 years the shower became uncontrollable: the water was running ether hot or cold. Having done a quick research and watched a few quite helpful and informative videos on YT, I purchased this item along with rather expensive tube of silicone grease. The installation, with all precautions, took about 20 minutes - I am not a pro. Besides at first attempt I installed the valve upside down, which resulted in hot water coming first, fixed easily. The design of the cartridge was somewhat different from the one installed, which had no negative effect on the result whatsoever.

Arnold Y. Seno: The product arrived in three days. My shower has a constant drip and I only replaced the Rite-Temp mixer and the shower doesn't leak anymore. I ordered both parts just to make sure that I have all the parts incase that the leak doesn't fixed by the Rite-Temp mixer alone. The replacement is straight forward and it should not take more than half an hour. There is an adjustment for reducing the temperature but I didn't touch it because the temperature of the water coming out from my water heater is just fine. It took me longer to replace it because I want to make sure that what I'm doing is right ( I'm not a plumber).
