Lisa C, Swanton Ohio: Although there is more to life than yarn and knitting needles, it's amazing to follow how Rachael 's obsession is so relatable to an entire community. Such a gifted writer and knitter. Thank you so much for telling our story.

txmapa: I often tell people that going into a yarn store is like going into a candy store. I have a lovely group of ladies I knit with even after our local yarn shop closed many years ago. I truly believe knitting is an art and a form of therapy. Rachael is a wonderful story teller and anyone that knits can relate to her descriptions of yarn and the art of those needles moving stitch after stitch. Your water bottle story gave me the idea of knitting a cover for a dear friend and fellow knitter who is turning 95. She is always cold and I know this will keep her warm like a good hug.

Cleveland OH: This was okay as a collection of essays about the author's life and obsession with knitting, but thankfully it's a slim book because it didn't grab me at all. Look for Debbie Macomber's books of knitting fiction if you're looking for a story, or any of the technical knitting how-to books if you're looking for information, but this book is not it. Not especially funny - look for Erma Bombeck's books instead.

Well written and interesting account of an enthusiastic knitter's life. Rachel Herron wants to knit and write from an early age and this book charts her development beginning with an unusual childhood.
It is a very readable memoir, I loved her passion for knitting, and applaud her determination to spend her life following her passions.
Rachel now writes novels that have a knitting theme and also works as a 911 telephone responder.
SHe also has a website[...]
I wanted to read this because my passion for knitting has been rekindled recently and am curious about how others view this brilliant craft. There is still some stigma about knitting being a "granny " thing but many younger women including this author have fallen in love with yarn. I am a granny but that doesn't mean my outlook is old-fashioned and I really enjoyed this memoir.

Cheryl: Such a sweet and honest book. Rachael is a rebel with a heart of gold. I feel like we just spent a night by the fire with a glass of wine followed by a cup of tea, while she shared her life with me. Like a first date when you stay up all night talking and getting to know each other. The good kind of date where you want to see her again. Can't wait to read more Rachael Herron.

Sarah Owens:
I happened upon Life in Stitches: Knitting My Way Through Love, Loss and Laughter (and her fabulous blog) by Rachael Herron by accident. Amazon recommended it to me, based on my buying history. I automatically thought it was recommended because I've recently purchased two more personal essay memoirs;
Bossypants
by Tina Fey and
Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns)
by Mindy Kaling, two hilarious collections of essays I might add. So, I immediately bought this one for my Kindle without hesitation, thinking it was going to be similar.
Wrong.
I quickly found out Life in Stitches is not meant to be an hilarious book of essays. Yet, I couldn't put it down.
I. Love. This. Book.
Life in Stitches is a collection of 20 essays by novelist and blogger Rachael Herron. It measures the story of her life by the knitting projects she was working on and thinking about as her life, and its big events, rolled on. Yes, I knit too, but nowhere near as much as Herron does. And be assured, you do not have to be a knitter to relate to the essays here. It's a wonderful book, and...
