CRodriguez: We purchased for our weeklong beach vacation. We were a party of eight and knew we needed something that was portable and easy to transport and set up each day we spent at the beach. This met all of our expectations. When we first set up we struggled a bit between the winds and getting to know the set up but after that it did get easier. We learned it’s important to lay out and fully stretch it. Once filled with enough sand depending on the wind and our preference we opted to use 2 or 4 of the poles. There was one day when the winds were very strong and it came down and we adjusted by further stretching, filling with sand and readjusting the poles. Despite this we believe this was one of our best beach vacation purchases for our group. For context, 4 adults with chairs fit comfortably. Kids were able to relax as well (sans chairs).

savannahsavannah: 4.5 stars- it gets the job done! Super easy to transport, need at least 2 people to set it up for the best results. Our first time using it we had a hard time, but here are the tricks:

tldr- lots of sand & stretch the fabric!

1. fill up the sand bags as much as you possibly can. i promise you, they won’t rip. put a RIDICULOUS amount in there
2. make sure you stretch out the tent in an X shape as much as you can before you put the polls underneath it
3. put the polls at the seams, you’re gonna have some loose fabric for sure but as long as you have the bags down and lots of sand, you’ll be fine. Overall, highly recommend!

Scott: The media could not be loaded.  I am currently on vacation in South Carolina with this sun shade tent. I took it from the box on the beach yesterday and put it up for the first time. I hesitated to leave a review just yet because I felt, perhaps, I was using it incorrectly. Reading other reviews really helped. The tricks and other suggestions made a big difference, but I’m still not as impressed with this thing as I thought I would be.
We had three people to assemble the sun shade tent; a 50, 19, and 14 year old, and it took us all. We have put it up three times now. The first day, I was furious. It was so complicated to get it stretched out in the heavy winds, then once it was up and the poles positioned per the instructions, the wind continued to drag the sand bags and the tent would collapse. I fought this thing for 30 minutes. We figured out that if you move the poles to the very front edge, then the tent doesn’t flop down in the front, catch air, then take the whole thing down. The video I posted shows us still in the process of figuring all of this out. You can see the heavy wind, but that is not uncommon on the beach. I then read where someone commented to fill...

Amazon Customer: We have used this at the beach three times. The first time was a disaster. It kept blowing over and there was no stability. We took it down and tried again. On the second try that day we had it perfect. You have to make sure to completely fill the sand holes. This material stretches a lot. So as you add sand you have to lift it and stretch it and keep adding sand till you cannot any longer, then place the bag in the hole you made from digging sand and cover it up with sand. When you move to the next end you have to pull the material until you can't anymore...it must be tight.. then add sand. All four corners must be done like this. Then, grab your poles and place the ball on top, the point in the sand and secure with the elastic. It really is simple. The second and third beach days were amazing! People commented on how huge our shade area was. Set it up right, and you will be so happy!

LoriS: 1st use at the beach on a windy day (18-20 mph wind) - the tent held up when no one else around could have any tents or umbrellas open! Giving 4 stars just because I only used it once, and time will show how durable are the parts with repeated use. Other than that, first impression deserves 5 stars! Good quality materials, and I love how compact it is and easy to carry (better than any umbrellas or traditional tents). You will need to make sure to find a rather large open space to set it up as this tent needs to be stretched before inserting the poles, and it may be a good idea to "burry" the sand bags deeper on a windy day to keep them from moving. I'm excited to use it again and can't wait to take it back to the beach!
