Jay: I tried this on a variety of brands. It likes the softer ties. I broke quite a few of the old Gardner bender ties faily easily... I'd say 4 and 6 inch.
I had it drag with a few of the "heavy duty 1/2 inch ties on here" but I managed them ok.
It worked with low profile ties... or at least the ones I have that came from Orielly. It was easier to over tighten them which when cut resulted in the tie undoing itself but like with all the ties. You have to get the knack and feel for it.
I'm happy with this purchase. Out of the 50 or so tries I've done. I haven't hurt anything but the ties and only had on tie with a stub.

Mister Wispies: This Panduit gun was already my favorite back when it was made in Mexico. The price has gone up a little since moving manufacturing to Taiwan, but so has the craftmanship so its a fair trade off for the extra shipping cost and higher quality product. This tensioner is the best bang for the buck for HVAC ducting, dont have to worry about it slipping on the panduit when you are in a 20" attic stretching out to a register in the far corner of the roofline trying to put a duct on while using nothing but a single 2x4 to stop yourself from falling into the master bedroom. 10 out of 10, just keep the helpers away from it so they dont cake it over with duct seal.

Sam Yun: This tool is nice, but it's a manual cut. As such, it doesn't automatically stop tensioning at a certain force, so if you're not careful, it can snap the tie (especially if you're using cheap Harbor Freight ties).

Cobra Commander: These are great they will tighten any zip tie. I have used many zip ties but this can tighten them way better then by hand. It will break cheap ones if you over do it. The almost flush cutting feature is great as well. It made from metal and appears durable

Bre Morgan: The cutting blade on these is the smoothest of any I've used - having compared multiple tensioners during my HVAC career. We use large zip ties to connect our flex hoses to duct work, and this tensioner handles them with next to no effort. Glides through like a hot knife through butter, which is helpful for my tiny little hands!
