JP: After one of the alarms faulted and started chirping every 30 seconds and showed an amber alarm I turned the device off permanently and bought a replacement. I am impressed that four years after installing these units a replacement device works with the existing units and I was able to setup the wireless connectivity by resetting all units and setting up from scratch.

The unit that faulted was in our bonus room which can get very hot. These units are only rated up to 100 F and during a recent heat wave I believe the unit was damaged by heat with several days over 100 F. Our bonus room is rarely occupied or air conditioned.

AmyWang: It went off during the launady. And I can't turn it off. There is no instructions on the user manual to turn off the alarm during false alarm. And no caution how to prevent this type of false alarm.

Michael Fanning: In December 2021 I purchased 3 of the P4010DCsco-W for a total of $190.44. I purchased 2 of the P4010ACSCO-W for a total of $133.47. I purchased 2 of the P4010DCS-W for a total of $129.74. If you hate sleep, and love false alarms and anxiety, these are the devices for you.

Within a month, they started alarming for no reason. They would go off in the middle in the night, then again 2 hours later. The initiating alarm was never the same. At one point or another, all 9 units instigated the alarms, and you can only silence them by going to the source alarm. So whenever they go off, you have to walk your entire home to find the source culprit.

This is all horrible, and Kidde provided me a replacement for the first device that did this. The new one started alarming again in 2 weeks. My house is not dusty/dirty, and no smoke in the home. Currently, I get 3-4 false alarms per week. The final straw came when they started going off without triggering the other devices. So now, I have devices that go off when there is no issue, AND they don’t trigger the other alarms, so now I have no protection and no piece of mind. I finally took them all down...

Our house was constructed in 2002 in Maryland and we had three AC powered smoke alarms that were 19 years old (which is not a good thing considering you are supposed to replace them every ten years). This left our family in a potentially dangerous situation: will our smoke alarms alert us when there’s a fire when every second counts to get out of the house?

The solution: I decided to purchase three of the Kidde P4010 DCSCO-W Wire Free Interconnect smoke alarm units for our home and family for Christmas. I was very excited to get the products because of the features that were listed in the description and I thought it was worth the money to “renovate” our units to a newer version.

Upon receiving the product, I showed my family the box that had these new units. Then after New Year’s my father and I took down our old units. We then connected the new units wirelessly and installed each one on each floor. Connection and installation was very simple and it only took us about 15 to 20 minutes to install. Tim: I had this product for 4 months and the battery was supposed to last 10 years. I started having fault codes within the first 3 weeks, doing what the troubleshoot guide told me to do, now finally it’s coming up with “low battery”. It may be a defective battery, it happens. I bought 2 others at the same time and they are working fine.

My problem with this is the customer service. I get a person on the phone that I can barely understand, it sounded to me that the CS person just wanted to send me to the manufacturer for the manufacturer to deal with it. After arguing with the CS person for almost 30 minutes, I finally got a CS manager on the phone that I could understand a little better. After arguing with her about sending me a new unit with the return label and paperwork for the return, I would then put the defective unit in the box and return it (reminding that you do have my credit card number so you would be able to bill it if I failed to return it). When all this is finally cleared up, the CS manager seemed to get an attitude as we were hanging up.
