I have an oil furnace that I once misadjusted and filled the flue with soot. Only 1/16 of the flue's x-section was not clogged. I'm lucky my older brother bought me a CO detector because it woke me up. It's old but I still keep it as a spare. This one is just like the one I bought ten? years ago, but this one has a non-removable battery. I used to remove the battery in the summer to make it last longer, but I didn't actually know how it counted the time. Now I can't do that, so they've got me. Oh well.

got the first one, plugged it in: alarm went off and read "lo battery".
Supposed to be good for 10 years.
Replaced it ( easily ) and this one seems to be a keeper.
I like how Amazon handled it,

It's just weirdly comforting to glance at my CO detectors and see that red zero. I really like that. I also really like that (theoretically anyway) these are designed NOT to alert you to a low battery in the middle of the night. That was a major selling feature after our old CO detector terrified us all by shrieking at 3 AM just because the battery was low. I'm looking forward to ten happy years of not dying in my sleep... at least not from CO.
