Noreladim: PROLOGUE:
I have a perfectly operational four speed fan switch in my home. What I don't like about it is that the slider for the fan speed operates in reverse order to what you'd expect from positions 1 to 4. Speed setting position 1 should be (intuitively speaking) the lowest fan speed and gradually increase to the maximum speed at position 4; i.e., lowest to highest, just like the slider for the light switch. But my switch operates in reverse speed order so that position 1 is the fastest speed and position 4 is the lowest speed.
THE PROBLEM:
I wanted to buy a dual slide motor and light switch that works intuitively from low to high for both sides of the dual switch. I bought this switch hoping it would do just that. No luck. It operates the same way my original switch does.
We have other dual light/fan fixtures in the house that use 3-speed switches. They all work from low to high speed (positions 1 to 3 on the switch). Why can't they make a four speed switch that works the same way?
Therefore, I sent it back and re-installed the original switch.
