Comments

Dave & Patty Hendricks: I bought and installed this controller a year ago. All functionality works fine. One of the incandescent bulbs failed recently and I replaced both with dimmable LEDs. The LED bulbs act like they were installed in an incandescent-only setup: they flicker when dimming and do not reach full watts when I set the dimmer to high. Clearly, this switch is NOT for LEDs, regardless of what they claim.

Amazon Customer: Restored full control of the ceiling fan that had been rendered non usable due to a failure of the original controller

bwbecker: It controls the fan/light. That's what it's supposed to do. That's good.

But if you walk into a room and want to turn on the light, finding the right button is a pain in the dark. Yes, there's the master power switch, but that cuts the fan, too.

It would be nice for the fan reverse switch to be less prominent and replaced with the light on/off switch.

G King: Was described as "new". When I opened the box , it had obviously been used and was missing the screws.

usna98: I purchased four of these to replace some 4-speed Emerson fan switches that were previously installed in my house. Those old 4-speed switches did not work properly with my new 6 speed Emerson fans, and if the switch positions were accidentally changed, there was a potential to damage the new fans. I did not particularly care for the remotes that came with the fans as they were easily misplaced. I purchased these switches "used" from the Amazon marketplace as they came at a huge discount from the retail price. It's a little hard to justify spending $50 on a switch for a fan. In any case, installation of these switches was a piece of cake once I mapped the wiring from the old switch over to this one. If, like me, you have an existing remote control fan switch, you need to ensure that the toggled RF settings match up to whatever you selected for your remote control, so that both the remote and wall switch can control your fan. Once you've matched up the settings, there's no need to re-sync the fan to the switch and remote. Also, as others have mentioned, the presence of an upper and lower light bulb switch isn't very intuitive. You will use the lower light bulb switch to turn the fan...

L'acheteur: C'est une quasi nécessité. Adieu les télécommandes qui traînent partout.

Phil @ Amazon: Looks really "busy", but it works well once you get the hang of it. The bottom and top rockers work very differently, which would be confusing to anyone that hadn't read the instructions or wasn't informed of their operation. The bottom rocker controls fan speed, up and down, with the LED bars indicating the speed.

Looking at it, one could assume that the top rocker does the same thing for the built-in dome light, but that would be wrong. The top rocker is actually 2 separate switches. Emerson makes fans with 2 sets of lights: 1 set in a dome, as you'd expect, and a 2nd set as accent lighting. Each button, if held, cycles the power level to the lights, so to turn the lights darker or brighter, you have to hold the lower one for the dome until it reaches the brightness that you want, and the upper one for the accent lighting. Once the desired brightness level is set, release the button. A single touch (but not a hold) will turn the light on or off, at the last setting. Fortunately, the peak brightness and low dim level holds for additional time during the cycle, so you don't have to guess if you got it right.

Thinking about it, that's probably the best way to get full...

RadioGuy: It's a little small, but the bulk of the device fits a 1-gang box. Simple to wire and does a good job to remotely control my office's ceiling fan/light.

The first confusion was the light buttons. There are two at the top. When I bought this device, I thought that it would be used for the light dimming feature - press the top button to increase lighting, press and hold bottom button to dim, etc. Nope. I haven't seen it, but I guess Emerson sells fans with two lights, and that's what this controls. I have one of those type of fans in my master bedroom, but it's not an Emerson. It has a 'top' light and a 'bottom' light. Yup, that's what those buttons are for. Since I only have one light on my Emerson fan, the bottom light button controls it. Press once to turn it on, press once to turn off. Press and hold to control the dimming, assuming your fan has that feature.

I felt it's a little pricey, but I didn't want a hand-held remote tacked onto my wall, so I wanted something that would use an existing switch box, which this does.

It comes with several face plates: White, off-white and almond. It may come with one other, I don't recall. I've used this device for a...
