Rock: I found the 10 pack of ferro rods available from Kaeser Wilderness Supply to be a great deal.
These are not the soft variety, the kind that give of burning globs of metal. On the flip side, they give off a quick, hot, bright shower of sparks and will last a long time. They lit a plain cotton tinder on the first try.
Having owned both types, these are superior in my opinion.
They are not the best I have used, but they have certainly met my expectations.
