KAC K1 1.25" Hitch Mounted 2-Bike Platform Style Bicycle Rack Carrier

Amazon Customer: I purchased this rack to bring bikes on vacation. I did plenty of research and was choking at paying $500+ for a rack that would only get used a few times per year. This rack had all the features of the higher end racks that I was looking for. It tilts away from my vehicle allowing access to the hatch, when not in use it folds up so you do not need to remove the rack while driving in a city and looking for parking, it has an anti sway hitch arm, it has locking arms and a locking hitch pin which provided me the peace of mind when making rest stops on long drives. The rack is hefty but not heavy. The heft conveys a sense of quality and durability regarding quality of the material. My first trip was from Delaware to Savannah, Georgia. There was never any indication that the rack might fail and I’d lose the bikes despite highway speeds and some rough roads.

Bill Smith: I was only using one of the two 'hooks', just for my own bike. Went on a day-long ride and when I returned, someone had stolen my 'hook'. Let me tell you, I took it pretty damn easy on the way home.

Contacted Customer Service. They sent me a new one with a newly-designed tightening knob ... it locks with the same key that locks the rack to the hitch. Never charged me a dime. Now my rack is secure.

That's great CS. The rack itself is plenty sturdy enough to handle two 55# ebikes, no problem. Highly recommend this rack if you're an ebike owner .... or any of their products.

Douglas: It rattles I wish the seller could link me to their in house 2inch hitch converter as anything else isn't as sturdy. Build quality, installation time and practicality hit the mark for me.

PaulPaul: This fits the 1.25" U-Haul hitch on my 2015 Honda Civic very well. I've seen various posts online saying "I wouldn't trust a 1.25 hitch to carry an eBike" that seem to to be based only on imagination. My Civic has a tongue weight of 200lbs and the weight rating of this rack and the weight of our bikes all check out mathematically. I did take it easy at first trying out one eBike, then adding a non-eBike, then finally two eBikes. It performed like a champ every time. I can't vouch for eBikes that are extra heavy (RadRover, etc.), but our RadCity and Lectric ride just fine.

It does go into the receiver a little tight, so I rounded the edges of the tip of the rack just slightly with coarse sandpaper. Installation and removal is really easy and I take it off after each ride. I keep the rack tip and the hitch receiver oiled with 3-in-1 oil.

The wheel wells are easy to adjust to accommodate a variety of bikes. Follow the directions to be sure you have the rack on the car correctly and the bikes on the rack correctly and you'll have good results. Take it easy driving and be mindful of bumps in the road like you should with any other rack. Have fun riding! ...

direct-64: One year on and time for a review.
We love this rack, it's increased our rides out dramatically as it's so simple to attach to the car and go.
It is heavy, but that's because it is also so solid. Lifting it out of storage and mounting to the car is super simple as long as you're generally able to carry 50lbs with ease.
The tilt feature works perfectly, on our car (Kona) the rear door misses the bikes by 2".
The central lock-downs are fine for local runs, the tire straps and additional belt strap are only used on highway runs, which makes loading/unloading a very fast procedure.
The locks give us confidence to leave the bikes if away for a short while in a safe location, if someone really wanted the bikes they will always find a way.
We use it for ultra light carbon road bikes, fatties with 4.75" tires and steel touring bikes and it adjusts to fit them all.
There is a small amount of wobble when driving but no more than I expected from a single central mount. The locking mechanism from the rack to the car is also secure and simple.
All in all we love this rack and thoroughly recommend it.
