The screws are kinda cheap and strip easily (expected that), but other than that it is pretty good so far

FJ: I used these to replace a number of 20 year old magnetic latches in the custom, flush door cabinets in our kitchen and dining room:
- They're more compact (though the magnetic part fit the existing screw holes) and less obtrusive.
- The stainless steel is attractive.
- The adhesive strips are useful to hold the plates in place long enough to drill starter holes for the screws, much easier than trying to mark where they go; a time saving feature.
- They hold the doors closed securly but aren't so strong as to make them difficult to open.
- They included extra screws and adhesive strips which is a help.

A minor complaint is that the plates placed on the magnets were backwards, i.e., the chamfer for the flat screw holes was on the wrong side. Easy enough to turn them around unless you forget in which case you need to remove the adhesive from the wrong side and from the cabinet door. Only happened once.

Rana: I bought these magnet catchers for my cabinets and the catchers themselves are of great quality. The adhesive option makes it really easy to install the metal plate. But the screw are of cheap quality, they are really hard to screw on even with a drill, they kept on slipping and lost a few of them. The screws don’t attach to magnetic screw drivers. The screws are the only reason I gave a low rating for this product.

jvilla93jvilla93: Save yourself some time and frustration and purchase some better screws from the hardware store before attempting to install these. See my picture of a ruined screw.

After purchasing better screws, installation of these magnet latches was a breeze. Be sure to pre-drill your holes prior to screwing in the screws, otherwise you may snap them (even the good new ones).

The hold of these magnets is great -- my 15-pound cats are both unable to open them -- yet they are really easy for humans to open and close.

I highly recommend these. I bought sixteen of them in total, and so I needed to purchase about $8 of additional screws from the hardware store. The overall cost was well worth the money.

Bennett: These little magnetic latches are a great value.

I used them to hold shut closet doors (French door style) with “dummy” handles.

The magnet strength is substantial and more then adequate to hold a closet or cabinet door shut.

Installation: I was unsure given the mixed reviews on installing these, but some common sense and basic tools make it simple. First, dry fit the magnets. I mounted the bigger magnet first, then I mounted the metal strip to the door. This ensures your metal strip is in the correct place for both sides to meet. Second, PRE DRILL holes! You must use a very fine drill bit and make holes before screwing the screws into the holes. They are small screws that can easily strip if turned aggressively.

If you can use a drill and a screwdriver and have 15 minutes, this product is easy to use and install.
