Denise Grosz: This book was a WW 2 story about 3 women who joined the Red Cross during the war. It chronically their friendships , heartaches and happiness found. The only part I disliked was the constant use of the Lords name in vain. None of the times actually sounded like the women themselves.

Jen C: I liked this story more than I thought. I loved the actual historical facts as well as the depths of the characters. Truly, I laughed, cried and told friends about this book. I will be looking for more titles by this author.

Mary R: This is a story to savor with all the relationships between the ladies, the military comrades bonds, civilians helping the war effort, even enemy soldiers. I loved the 3 women's friendship!
Beautiful story and descriptions of the brutal weather during winter war felt realistic.

BarbarinaS: Doughnuts and coffee served in the middle of a war and amongst the worst of it - men soul-battered and body-wounded received so much pleasure with that touch of home. These women really existed it and though it might seem strange the idea is quite lovely and the author presents it exactly that way. These incredible women were an oasis - pure and simple. Though the book is also peppered with romance both in the idealistic way and also between the girls and the men they find and fall for along the way, it doesn’t detract from the incredible work these women did in the worst of circumstances.
I found myself moved despite the predicable plot. The author presents us with bravery and it works.

Reena: Set in World War II, this is a lovely story about the American Red Cross Clubmobile girls and the role that they played in keeping up the morale of young soldiers who were serving in the war.

Loved the beautiful friendship between the three main characters, Fiona, Viviana and Dottie, and the wonderful camaraderie between the groups of Red Cross Clubmobile girls who they worked with. As well as friendship, love, romance and hope, there is inevitably the horror, sadness and grief of war to read about too.

Overall this is a wonderful story to read and very high recommended.

Rob V: I thoroughly enjoyed this book. While it wasn't perfect (at times it felt a bit like a script for a Hallmark movie, and I was surprised by the amount and choice of curse words: Catholics will likely be offended), overall, I thought it was a nice tribute to the Clubmobile Girls. While I'm not a scholar nor an expert on World War Two, I feel a little better read than the average person on the subject, and I'm a bit ashamed to say I'd never heard of these unsung heroes, these women that would put themselves in harms way to deliver supplies and much needed morale boosts to troops overseas.y While the book is a love story at heart, and an often messy one at that, the War is more than just a setting. It's an integral part of the story. The supporting characters are also unique and add to the story, instead of distracting the reader from the focal points, and they often feel like real people. I also enjoyed the audiobook reading of this, as it came free with the book when I downloaded it. I would recommend this to most people that can ignore a few historical inaccuracies for the sake of a good story.

nomad: There was a whole lot of dialogue. Not all was necessary; but, I guess it set the scene for the characters' ages and the times. It is one of those books you might hope there would sequel to.

Kindle Customer: I wasn't sure after reading the first couple of chapters but once the three main characters arrive in London during 1944 for their Red Cross training I was reeled into the story. I had never heard of the Clubmobile girls before and was fascinated to learn of their service during the war. I enjoyed reading about the friendships formed and felt Healey portrayed the fear and heartbreak of the time very well. My only issue was the dialogue that at times I felt didn't flow, but the research that went into the story and the plot made it a worthy read and I would highly recommend it.

Somer: Loved this book so much!! It is a fictitious storyline with the characters, but the circumstances were real, and I had no idea that the Red Cross hired women to do this job! Very interesting, as well as entertaining, and I also appreciated the fact that the tragedies of war were not glossed over but included in the storyline even though it was often lighthearted.
