Sarah: I’ve got a 100% polyester garment that I’ve been trying to get black! Tried other brands and it just didn’t take. This actually worked!
It’s not a true black, but you can’t tell unless you hold it next to true black and look hard. And I’m sure that of I did a second round it would get there!
In all I’m happy!

Anya: I really wanted this dye to work for my polyester clothes but out of the whole batch it only successfully dyed two items. The other ones dyed a little bit but then it washed all out after the first wash.

V. Burnett: I used iDye poly black and navy blue to restore a nylon tulle evening dress for a customer. The outcome was EXCELLENT - the dress looked brand new when I was finished with it and my customer was thrilled.

Be aware - this is a messy and stinky process! You will need to work in a well ventilated area with a heat source powerful enough to keep your dye vat at temperature for about an hour. Make sure you can open your windows and get a couple of fans to move the fumes out of your house. (I would not use this when my asthmatic kid was at home or if I had chemically sensitive pets.)

Your vat must be large enough for all of the fabric to move around in it freely and you will never be able to use it for food again. (I used a large enamel water bath canner.) You must stir CONSTANTLY while the item is in the vat. If you dribble the hot dye on your counter or floor it WILL stain PERMANENTLY.

None of the above is meant to be a criticism of the product - it works extremely well and is SO much safer & more accessible than other methods of dyeing synthetic fabrics. Just don't expect this to be a quick & easy DIY project.

Here for the Objective Facts/Subjective OpinionsHere for the Objective Facts/Subjective Opinions: I bought this to use on a 100% polyester dress that I've had since the mid 90s. I had left it folded on a window sill and it got slightly sun bleached in a couple of spots. It wasn't that bad, but I wanted to dye it and make it fully black again.
I bought this dye in hopes that it would work on my polyester dress. BIG MISTAKE!! I followed the instructions to a T, I read them over 20x to make sure I didn't miss anything. As soon as my dress came into contact with the dye, it started to turn my dress BROWN. Essentially, the dye was STRIPPING the black color out like it was a mild bleach. Trying to convince myself that I had to trust the process, I left my dress in the dye for an hour (as the instructions said to), hoping it would turn black. IT DID NOT. Now I am stuck with an ugly part-brown, part-black dress. It couldn't even make the whole dress brown! DESTROYED MY VINTAGE DRESS! This is an Amazon fail for not checking the products they peddle and a BIG fail to Jacquard iDye for creating such a lousy product that destroyed my dress!! If i wanted a semi brown dress, I would have gotten some brown dye.
