It took a few hours for the low battery indicator on the alarm pad to disappear, this is to be expected as the battery isn’t shipped with a full charge and it needs to trickle charge for some time before it has sufficient charge to cancel the low battery warning.
Old lead-acid batteries need to be recycled, just about any place that sells automotive batteries will take an old alarm battery, so please recycle. Lead is very toxic if it ends up in a landfill.
