Steve&Hilary: Lots of interesting tea and etiquette trivia. The recipes are wonderful and the photographs depict the finished products perfectly. I'm looking forward to baking a couple of the recipes and compare them with the ones I use. Definitely an enjoyable book to read and a good addition to any cookbook collection. I highly recommend it.

Lz: I found this little gem! I just loved it! Decided to purchase for my sister as a gift! Isn’t made cheaply as a matter of fact I actually found this book at a department store and was priced three times more than what I paid for! Cute book, informative and a cook book as well! Joanna D.: What's good about this book:

1. Most of the famous English tea cakes and savories are represented. If you're going to do some classic English manorhouse tea party, you can't go very wrong here.

2. Nice pictures and pretty text. Quotes from the Downton series characters. Can we ever get enough of Dowager Countess Violet?

3. Downton Abbey photos for fanbois and fangurls (that is, nearly everybody) and nice pictures of the food.

Not so good:

1. The recipe for Caneles; you'll not get far with this one, and there's no picture of the finished cakelet, so you have no idea that it's made in a small, more tall than wide fluted mold rather like a baba mold, and the traditional lining of the mold includes beeswax with the butter to get a thick crust of caramelization with release. (Butter alone would absorb more and make less of a crust.) My suggestion, if you're determined to make these, find a true French recipe, get the molds and don't attempt these in muffin cups. You'll be disappointed. The molds are available here!

2. No seed cake. This cake, flavored with caraway seeds, was a constant companion to tea tables.

Gwennaelle: J'aime beaucoup la série Downton Abbey, la Belle-époque me fascine par son faste apparent et l'arrivée de l'ère industrielle. J'aime également beaucoup manger.

Un livre de recettes sur l'heure du thé à Downton Abbey était donc parfait.

Ce livre de recettes de 140 pages est séparé en plusieurs chapitres.
Nous découvrons l'art du thé, les pâtisseries, les sandwichs et les tartinables (confitures et marmelades).

Chaque recette est accompagnée d'une illustration du résultat ou de la série.
Il est dommage que les étapes de la préparation ne soient pas illustrées, certaines recettes complexes pourront nécessiter une recherche complémentaires en cas de doute.

Le livre ici présenté (vert sapin) est l'édition de lixe. La version vert menthe est l'édition stndard mais le contenu est identique.
