And everyone wanted to charge 3000 bucks to replace the switches out back. Anyways. We waited til my friends dad came into town . Master electrician. These saved me. I used them for 3 months. And surprisingly we enjoyed them. They cook rather evenly . I didnt miss my stovetop. Not really lol. I got me another one. And thats what we did til he was able to come and fix our issue for 75 bucks. Which was much better than 3000. So either way. If your buying for camping, or just a easy quick to a simple kitchen. Issue. They were great. I use them on our back deck now when I fry things. Cause I don't like the way it makes our house smell. So they will still be used. Very nice to have

A. Brown: I use this in my office for heating a tea kettle, and it does a great job of that. I like that it uses an "old-school" burner, as those last for ages and can probably even be replaced if necessary.

Christa: This little unit works fantastic. We keep it aside for our numerous power outages plug into our generator. Turn the dial to 3 and the burner gets super hot very quickly. It’s perfect !!!!

Scot Heinze: Just got this today and put about a 1/2 gallon of water (just enough to make a 1/2 pound of spaghetti) into a pot. Turned it up as high as it would go and it took about 35 minutes to get to a boil. I would think that half that much water in a smaller pot would boil a lot faster. This isn't a real big issue to me because if I have power to run this hot plate then I also have power to run my microwave so I could heat the water to a boil in my microwave in about 10 minutes and then dump it into the pot and it should maintain it long enough to cook spaghetti, macaroni or noodles. I think it will do just fine for cooking anything else or just heating up something that doesn't need to get to a boil. I read some reviews that the numbers wipe off easily. So just don't grab the knob by the numbers! Overall it is a nice hotplate for the money. If you need to boil a lot of water and can do it in a ventilated area like a porch, garage or just outside on a picnic table, the Coleman portable bottle top stove for $20 on Amazon will boil this same amount of water in about 12 minutes, but you need to buy those small propane bottles for that.

Daisy SDaisy S: So I purchased this Courant burner because I need wanted this to use on my Kitchen Table to use for stir frying (cooking and serving right at the table)...
When this single burner arrived, I quickly discovered that I could use it for several types of cooking with several types of pans!
PROS:
1. This burner heats up to the highest temperature in about 3 minutes.
***When I made my Veggie and Chicken Stirfry for two, I preheated this burner for 3 minutes on my Kitchen timer, then it reached the full 1,000 watts and the RED BURNER APPEARED (as shown in the below picture) .
*** I preheated my Lodge Mini Cast Iron Wok (without Olive Oil for 2 minutes, then I added my 3 Tablespoons of Olive Oil).
This made my pan perfect and ready for stir frying for myself and my honey bunny! The result was an outstanding and delicious stir fry!!!!
2. The 1,000 watt (highest temperature) does not burn my food and it evenly cooks my food when I fry or stir fry.
3. Making Scrambled Eggs...So I preheated my burner on medium-high for just 2 minutes (I used a 9 inch non stick skillet). Then I added 1.5 tablespoon of butter and 4 large eggs. I gently stirred the eggs...

YohDahYohDah: I wanted to use this single burner with my Jackery 1000 for camping and wanted to see if it would run with it and if so how much battery power it would use. After receiving it, I turned it to power #5 as instructed in the manual. The burner smoked for about 30 secs as expected, then the smoke subsided. The surrounding metal and the knob did not reach more than 99 degrees so it was safe to touch.
I plugged it into my wattage meter connected to the wall outlet, and it measured around 970-980w when on and 0w when off. Then I plugged it into the Jackery 1000 and it measured 820w while on. This was at the highest setting #5. Switching to setting #2 did not change the wattage, but the burner thermostat took over, and it cycled at 18 secs on and 13 secs off, repeatedly. At #3, it turned on for 48 secs and turned off for 13 secs. Back at #5, it stayed on quite a bit longer and I didn't wait for it to cycle off.
I wanted to measure how long a cup of water took to boil, so at #5 setting (already pre-heated), it took 5 minutes. During that time, the Jackery went down from 98% to 89%, so roughly 9%.
As far as temperature, I was using my surface thermometer -- the...
