This iGaging Combination Square Premium 2-Piece 6" 4R is the perfect tool for carpentry. It offers superior accuracy and build quality, along with an easy-to-read design. With its combination of features, it's the best square for any carpentry job. Get the job done right with this combination square.Tony: iGaging makes pretty good measuring tools for woodworking. This six-inch square actually is "square" and the rule is accurate, matching my Woodpeckers rules. I'd make this purchase again without hesitation.

Amazon Customer: Needed a small combination square with center head. It is not a Starrett which would cost way more. It is accurate with an easy to read blade. The machining of the parts could be better. Both heads are a bit stiff to move on the blade. But at this price point it is a good product.
Note: I'm a retired professional wood worker and Starretts are no longer in the budget.

Kindle Customer: Very well made product. Very precise. I would the quality as good as a Starrett and perhaps a bit better. The price is a quarter of the price of a Starrett.

L. Brown: I have used some cheaper combination squares in the past but have never felt like I had one that was accurate. They have all seemed loose and roughly made. I decided to upgrade but I don’t feel like my level of expertise justifies a Starrett, (which seems to be the one everything else is measured against.) I saw a lot of positive reviews and articles about IGaging tools, including their combination square. This thing feels like a solid hunk of steel in your hand. It may be just a little unrefined compared to a Starrett, It isn’t a perfectly polished finish all over, but it is still the nicest combination square I have gotten my hands on. The angle is spot on against a machinist square and probably with just a little more use all the movements will smooth out a bit. Right out of the box you notice it comes in a pretty decent storage case to protect everything, and you notice how solidly built it feels. I don’t regret buying this at all, I look forward to many years of use.

Amazon Customer: Whilst I do not have a need at the moment for a precision instrument such as this it is nice to have in reserve. I paid $100 for this set and feel I got my money's worth. If I worked in machining then yes, I would invest in a Starrett or Brown & Sharpe, etc.
This set allows me to feel as though I have invested in a quality tool that will give me the precision I need without questioning its accuracy

Airedad: The review for the 12-inch, 4-piece "4R" combination square follows this one, which is a review of the 24-inch square.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is an update. I had previously reviewed the 12" combination squares (which are both still working perfectly several years later) and since then I have also purchased the 6" and 4" double squares, and they are both just as spectacular as the 12-in combination squares. And the smaller double square usually lives in my shop apron because I use it on virtually every project I build. It's a life-saver and has prevented a great many errors on my part. (Hmm. Let's see ... "Yeah this looks OK, I'll go ahead and.... O wait maybe I'd better check that right angle again. Oops. Glad I did that..." It's that sort of situation.)
Recently I checked my old 24" combination square. It was cheap when I bought it and the reason why is that the rule is stainless but the block is aluminum. It can no longer be made to hold it's accuracy on angles. I've had it for years and it's now past the point...

Me I. Myself: Let's be frank - this is NOT a Starrett. If your livelihood depends on your tools and things like verifiable accuracy, this probably won't be what you need.
However, that having been said, this combination set is SHOCKINGLY accurate for what it is (which is basically a Chinese knockoff of a Starrett set) and will be more than accurate enough for hobby/light-commercial use. I bought it because I needed a square finder for some bar stock for a project, and ended up using it along with a digital caliper I already had to do most of the measuring for said project. The etching is sharp and crisp, making it easy to read, and the thumbscrew locks actually work as expected. The packaging is no-frills but does include a padded storage case. I don't have the equipment necessary to verify the packaging's claims as to accuracy but what I could check tested out as right on the money.
If you use the set in a high-humidity environment, you might want to wipe it down with a good rust inhibitor (I've found that Mobil1 synthetic motor oil makes an excellent inhibitor - wipe on, wipe off, done) when storing the set's components as there's no rust inhibition included within or on the...
