Mr Broadband: I am retired and occational work with wood. I am not a wood working expert nor do I have a wood working shop.
I went with the metal body vs the plastic molded cheaper square for accuracy and longevity.
Paid more for the body and the reviews on how well the lettering holds up.

Online Buyer: I had purchased a combination square at Lowe's but it was very difficult to read because the numbers were stamped into the ruler with no color to make them stand out. Add to this any light shining on the metal, you could not see the numbers at all. On this square, the numbers are stamped and they are filled in with black to make them stand out and are much easier to read.

Mike777VSP: I needed a new combination square to help set up a miter sled on my new table saw. I saw the same Irwin combination square in my local box store and almost purchased it, but then checked the price on Amazon and w/ free shipping and arriving two days later AND several dollars cheaper I went this one from Amazon.
It is a very well made combination square, that rivals my “very older” and more expensive model. I used it to compare w/ this one as I installed the miter sled and it was dead on. The square is very solid and measures in imperial measurements to 1/32 of an inch. Glad I checked w/ Amazon
