Katinka Murphy: What a great coffee table book! We enjoy picking it up and seeing photos of REAL people and then reading about their stories. Where they come from and where they hope to go. Stories of sadness, stories of joy, stories of hope of for the future. Just wish the book was a bit bigger - but still give it a 5 out of five

Osi: Bought it at the request of a sister who lives in the United Kingdom. Haven't read it myself, but planning to. The book from its reviews is a best seller!

Maria Bettina: I like that ALL kinds of New Yorkers are. represented here: children, young adults, the elderly -- from every ethnic group and eco-status. The quotes accompanying the photos are by turn poignant, nuts, heart-warming -- but always candid. Everyone, not just New Yorkers, is unique, special and deserving of interest and attention, like ME and YOU!

AC: I adore the Humans of New York blog. I've followed it for years, and find this book to be well-thought out and put together, with good quality paper, printing and binding. This book highlights some of the most incredible, poignant and human things I have enjoyed seeing over the past few years. These pages serve to remind me that there are good people in this world when I forget; and that everybody in this world has a story, a struggle, and a dream. It also reminds me that NYC is an incredible place where people from all over the world come to work hard and make a good life for themselves. Easy to flip through, it offers the classic one-liners as well as series of photographs/interviews.
If you have never heard of HONY, go to the website, take a look. Yes, it's all available online, but this book... This book draws you into the magic with no distractions. I get lost in this book. It is a treat every time I open it.
If you are familiar with HONY and haven't already got this book, GET ON IT!

Zen: Brandon Stanton's vignettes of New Yorkers on Facebook are captured in this book, 425 glorious pages in all color, complete with their stories. Chances are if you're reading this review you've already liked the Facebook page and follow his portraits regularly. Brandon Stanton went from a college grad working on Wall Street to a photojournalist. His quest to capture people of New York in their daily lives has led to more than 15 million followers, and their heartfelt appreciation for the work he does every day.

In his short and poignant stories, combined with beautiful portraits, Brandon captures moments of people's lives, and sometimes an entire life story is captured in a couple of sentences. Many make us cry, some make us laugh, but all of them invariably show us how much we have in common. These posts are read by people across our planet, in every country. And it's heartwarming to see there are people in every country who identify with these stories, as they capture emotions we all have felt some time in our lives. At the very least, we empathize, as these stories give us a window into the subjects' lives.

Like most people, I had already read most of the stories...

Don Camillo: Ich folge Brandons Blog, Humans of New York, nun seit ein paar Monaten.
