Knlpdx: If you spend a lot of time with nail sets, you come to understand each type has it limitations.
Some of the old time USA nail sets were high quality hardened steel, and while it was the best performing with a head-on blow, if you were slightly off, the brittle steel tended to chip (around the head).
These Chinese made nail sets are almost always made of much softer steel, and thus don't have the same driving characteristics, but are less likely to chip at a glancing blow.
What makes this set desirable is the sheer weight of each nail set.
Heavier nail sets distribute the blow of the hammer much more evenly, and allow you to hit much harder to drive the brad.
