Ann E. Fox: I purchased a similarly-sized Sentry Safe which has the absolutely cheapest locking mechanism ever designed. I thought I would tough it out until I tried to open it one day and it took me 30 minutes and lots of swearing. So I ditched the Sentry Safe model and am Far, FAR happier with the latch design on the Honeywell.

Devi Granec: The safe is fine, it can be finicky about opening it but I have always been able to get it open. I used the wrong measurements when I ordered it so it is not exactly what I wanted but that’s my fault.

Having to open it every week can be inconvenient, but I can’t think of a way to make it so that doesn’t happen.

Shari B: Probably more my mistake than the box's. I wanted a portable safe that I could use to secure my money as a traveling vendor. I loved my old safe until the lock jammed and I found out with one flick of a screwdriver I could open it. So I was looking for a stronger locking mechanism. This one is better, but I was still able to break in when I was having problems with the key turning properly. Having the key turn easily has been a problem for me with this safe.

I would put up with the weight, it is VERY heavy if you have to carry it around, if it had a more secure lock. I will use it for now but will keep looking for something more secure. Fire and Water resistance are not as important to me as security. If you don't need to move it a lot and are using it secure papers not money, it is probably an excellent safe. It seems to seal tight to prevent water access and all that weight must be great for fire protection.

I am sure some of you are here due to Tik Tok. I personally wanted this product to store my valuable documents such as passports, IDs, birth certificate, cash reserve, etc in case a fire burned down my house. This should do pretty well for that I believe (especially for the price, will be a lot better than not having one).

That said, I have a couple gripes:
1. The latches on the front are plastic. This is somewhat of a pain just because won't that plastic melt? I am not positive, but may be a wrinkle in the anti-fire plan. That said, the box is very heavy and can likely stay closed on its own I think? There is a pretty strong seal tool.
2. I think the latches to secure it closed are a little finicky when it comes to the mechanism, but at least it does seem like a very solid shut, so perhaps it is a necessity.
3. This is a personal one, but I wish it were a little more boxy and maybe easier to integrate with my current storage.

Some nice features:
1. The weight is really nice, it feels strong.
2. The inside has a very nice lining, this along with the seal makes me feel good about my documents being inside.
