Adar: Im an atheist but like resding a variety of religious and religion related books. This is the first one that has ever made me laugh out loud throughout. I tried reading the old testament years ago but got bored wifh all the begats and stupidity of it so I have no idea of the accuracy of this book but the way its written us just brilliant and makes no excuses for thd ridiculousness of the stories. Never done a review from my kindle and must sat the keyboard is too small - nit sure what that has to do with the review byt sometimes you just have to go with the flow.

katie sethna: This book has been written by Ebling with sardonic black satire. I dare say it is also written with some degree of anger.
The author says that the bible is filled with myth and is full of self contradictory statements. It is repetitive and represents its god as not a lovable entity at all. This god is angry, genocidal, misogynistic, and does not keep his promises The author says this god has been made by men ov.er many generations. The creationist story is humbug. Prophesies are made and not fulfilled. I liked this book because it reflects my own personal views. I look forward to a sequel (which the author has promised) If one is a believer, stay away . If otherwise, this book is quite amusing

Cody Jarrett: One of the most engaging books I've read. I found myself laughing aloud half the time and reflecting on the pure creativity of this interpretation for the other half. The cleverness of this book lies in its author's ability to plummet and plunder the often incomprehensible story of the bible, re-interpret it, and present it in a way that is very easy to read and highly entertaining. I ploughed through it in one sitting and was genuinely disappointed when it ended. I'd like to think El or Yahweh was working through Steve Ebling as he wrote this, in an effort to gain some credibility as a God with a sense of humour, but I guess he already felt he covered that with the bible, because, as Steve repeatedly implies, it is a farce a lot of the time. A big thumbs up. I hope you were rewarded with many striped goats for this offering Steve, with maybe a few cousins thrown in too!

James L. Beach: Effectively points out the silliness of the beginning of the Bible - those glaring bits of nonsense or inconsistencies you can see if you're paying attention - but it's a bit vulgar and crude, sort of like a shock jock using vulgar language. Perhaps he does this to offend those of an overly religious mind set, or just shock them and offend them as much as they often offend others by insisting their matters of faith are instead matters of fact. In any event, I'm not sure the vulgar language is necessary. Oh, one can overlook it, I suppose, but I'd rather see the ideas than the crude language.
Alas, it only takes us up to the alleged enslavement of the Jewish people by the Egyptians (so, before Moses sets them free). Therefore, it's too short. There's perhaps more to come, but the title say the Bible - not just a tiny part of it, so it's a bit misleading.
Anyway, this shines light on some aspects the faithful would rather gloss over or overlook altogether - if those faithful were those who believe the Bible is supposed to be literal truth. For those who are fine with it being figurative truth, I'm sure this would be less offensive - though it's clear the values of that...

Dan: I enjoyed this book, read during a trip. People wondered what the heck I was laughing about. You will never guess I was reading verses from the bible! Lol
I'm looking forward for more!

Kindle Customer: This would be a really valuable reference book if I could figure out how the author intends for the reader to use it. Truly confusing set up which ends up looking very thick because he repeats verse after verse after verse to somehow try to hammer home the same points. Skip this unless you like self-flagellation.
Oh, and the author tries very hard to show how little respect he has for Christianity by insisting on using gutter language gratuitously and repeatedly. It's kind of like a kid's first journal when he realizes he can write down all those swear words he isn't supposed to say around his parents.

Russ Hamel: Just so you know where I'm coming from...
I grew up in a fairly strict Catholic family; you know, no-meat Friday, confession on Saturday, church on Sunday, piss and moan about how long and boring the mass was, what kind of ridiculous outfit the fat lady in front of us was wearing, how loud and off-key the drunk guy in back of us was singing; you know, typical Catholic stuff. As well, I did the altar boy thing for several years back in the early 60's. Heck, when I was a kid I had aspirations of being a priest when I grew up, that is until the hormones kicked in around age 13.
However, all throughout my childhood I questioned EVERYTHING, especially about religion. Things just didn't add up in the 'makes sense' and 'fairness' columns and I was always frustrated with the evasive, non-answer 'take-it-on-faith' explanations I was offered. Of course, back in those darker days, there was no easy access to information like we have today. You just had to trust the authorities like parents and priests. A HUGE part of that trust implied that you NEVER questioned what they said.
I remember we did have a Bible in our home but it was merely for decorative purposes. Oh, I may...

Greg Marsh: Just think, this was just one book of the bible. Imagine the fun attached to every book in the old and new testament.
