Karen M: I bought 2 packages of these to scare Canada geese away from my lawn. I live on a lake and the geese make a mess of the lawn. They come up over the shallower retaining wall at my neighbors' and graze across to my lawn then hop back in the lake. I've spaced these out every 4-5 feet on the waterfront and my side lot line. It's been a little over a week, and so far, the geese haven't ventured to cross the line. My sister thinks they're pretty and festive. My other-side neighbor (who built a low stone wall completely surrounding his lot to solve the geese problem) thinks it looks like the circus, but he smiled when he said it. It's always windy here, and the pinwheels are pretty flimsy, but I'm prepared to replace them if they continue working.
After a week, the geese got used to them and continued to foul my lawn. I've now added reflective bird scare tape, so the waterfront and side edge of my lawn look ridiculous, but it's been 3 weeks, and so far, so good. So far, only 1 pinwheel has broken.
