Amazon Customer: just finished the 1st big trip with Hollywood Racks HR1400 Sport Rider on the back of the car and really impressed with the quality and innovation of the product.
rock solid, no wobbles. easy to adjust. lockable. tiltable - what more do you want?
took 2 adults bikes and 2 kid bikes on a long trip. bit of adjusting for the kids bikes to fit but once on there they were fine.
had one moment pulling out of a gas station and the driveway was really steep. thought id struggle to clear the back but the bike platform clearance at the back was more than enough.
Tilting is a bit heavy with 4 bikes loaded and i needed 2 people to do it. one to take the weight off the platform and the other to pull the pins at the front.
Likes: - good ground clearance
-fit 2 kids bikes (including a todler bike with training wheels)
-twisting lever to tighten connections on hitch so theres no wobble
dislikes: - heavy
whole unit weighs about 40kgs and is pretty large to store, but i dont see any way around that. just an FYI

Amazon Customer: This is an excellent product and is well worth the cost. We have taken it on two road trips and it securely holds the bikes in place as you are traveling. Very secure, very easy to put the bikes on and take them off the rack. I would highly recommend this product.

JustAPawn: After weeks of researching bike racks that can hold four bikes I purchased the Hollywood Racks HR1400. The main purpose of the rack is to transport my road bike for triathlon races but wanted the flexibility of being able to take the entire family out for a ride. A friend recommended a Thule rack as the best she has come across but after realizing that I would need to purchase extension cross bars for at least two bikes, the price of that rack plus accessories was the same as this rack.
I first used the hitch rack for two bikes, not including the "+2" extension. After getting the rack assembled -- which took me over an hour by myself -- mounting the bike was easy. I mean really easy. It consisted of getting the wheel guides lined up tight for my bike, lowering the clamps onto the frame, and using the Velcro straps to secure the wheels. For my next race I used the extension so I could transport bikes for two buddies. That was easy too, although I did need to carefully consider the placement given different handlebar configurations. Of course, that would have happened with any rack.
This is what I liked and what sold me initially on the rack:

SA: I did a great deal of research before I bought this rack. I wanted something that could convert from 2 to 4 bikes (4 for when friends ride with us)--that was affordable.
Yakima and Saris both have superior products at much higher prices. This Hollywood got great reviews, includes locks for the hitch and cable lock for the bikes (all keyed the same), folds up, and seems to adjust well to ladies & reg cruisers and hybrids. (I have not put a kids bike on yet). The price was right and at this point it seems I made the right decision. If you do not need to switch from 2 to 4 bikes Swagman also makes a nice product, I saw it at the local bike shop. To hold the wheels there are velcro strips. They work fine. With the high prices racks you get a shaped wheel holder vs the bars and click mechanisms to lock down the wheel vs velcro. No rattles as of yet. In a few weeks we are taking a long trip and I will update review.
I am a girl that hates to assemble things and does not know the terms for parts. I had this on in about a hour. Since it comes in 2 peices, each holding 2 bikes it is easy to lift. I had seen reviews for other products where they warned of the strength...

Syngh: Very impressed, really good return on investment. I had researched a lot of other platform racks before purchasing this largely based on the price point. I can say that I am not disappointed at all.
As long as you follow the instructions the build is pretty straight forward (I also watched a couple of videos). It is heavy, but that's a good thing, as it is well built and translates to being very stable when installed on the SUV. Have used both the 2 bike and 4 bike configurations and really like the ease of use. Tool-less mounting is great, flexibility to angle away from hatch is AWESOME! Don't even need to take the bikes off the rack when I want to open the hatch.
It does take a bit of time to learn how to use and fit the bikes properly, but once you do it a few times you are good to go. Highly recommend if you need the 4 bike option.
