pitotheat: I mounted this on the outside of my reef aquarium for quick reference. I use a Hannah Check Temp digital thermometer when making new saltwater, and it is consistently 0.3 degrees lower than this one, so the Popetpop is a great buy in my opinion. Having the lowest and highest temp displays are useful "spike" warnings. The only criticism is the lack of a backlight but given how well it works I definitely recommend.

7 months later and today it reads 94F, with a spike at 104F. Nope, tank is all good, and verified with the Checktemp, but it should have lasted longer. Good while it worked though.

Keith: Definitely works better then most digital probe thermometers. Most work for a few weeks then end up being 10 degrees off. This one has been within 1 or 2 degrees since I purchased it. The only draw back is it falls off the glass alot, definitely not enough of an issue not to buy.

Rob Cozens: I purchased this thermometer last Christmas, and I could hardly be more pleased with it almost three months later.

I have two heaters in my aquarium. One is set tor the lowest temperature my fish like, and is operational 24/7. The second is set to the highest temperature my fish like, and is plugged into a timer so it comes on around sunrise and and goes off around sunset. In addition to the current water temperature, this thermometer displays the highest and lowest water temperatures measured since it was last reset. This confirms that the water temperature fluctuates the way I want it to, and it verifies the accuracy of the thermostats in the heaters.

I also learned one unexpected lesson when I had to relocate my filter and shut down its venturi, which I was using for aeration and breaking surface tension: When I located an airstone near the heaters, the water temperature increased above the maximum temperatures the heaters were set for. When I moved the airstone to the opposite side of the aquarium, temperatures returned to their normal range. I concluded that air bubbles rising around a heater cause its thermostat to believe the water is cooler than it actually...

Chemgrl08: I used to use those cheaper black digital thermometers, and they were constantly falling off of the tank glass. They were also very inaccurate, and I would have to check the reading in ice water so that I could calculate a "correction factor" to determine the actual temperature. This thermometer read 0*C/32*F in ice water- perfect! It would appear that the claim of plus or minus 2*F is true. I also love the high/low feature. Once you hit the reset button, the thermometer will display the highest and lowest temperature readings on the bottom. So if your tank dips a degree or two overnight, or heats up during the day, you will be able to see that. A little perk that I didn't realize would be so helpful. I wouldn't mind buying several more of these for my other tanks. I highly recommend spending your money on a better quality product like this than the bulk ones that are inaccurate and a pain.
