BoxerBoxer: The media could not be loaded.  I thought that this would be a great solution for my wife to be able to transport bikes alone. I bought it thinking that I could assemble it and leave it installed in my Jeep Gladiator under the bed cover. First, not all of the holes lined up and it was frustrating to put together. Once it was together it was too high to stay in the bed under the cover. One of the wing nuts is cross threaded so I can’t even use all four of the bolts holding it in the vehicle. It was too heavy for her to lift in and out of the bed by herself so it doesn’t even work for the purpose that I bought it. It doesn’t hold the bike in at all securely so you will have to use a ratcheting tie down anyway (tie down not included). The anti theft cable that is included also doesn’t work because there’s no lock with it. I put it in the bed and parked the car in a high...

MtnsToSea: Ok. We loved having my new E-Bike in the back of our Chevy Silverado for a 1300 Mile trip. Our Bedliner and front hooks got in the way of a secure fit so we had to improvise by putting in wood planks on either side to tighten enough on sides. We also tied the bottom to keep it from sliding back. Last thing, we lifted the wheel of the E-Bike with a 2x6 because the space for the wheel is not wide enough for the new disk brake to stay clear of side so not to be damaged during the trip. So, now that we know how to modify the unit for our specifc bikes, I can say we think this is a great purchase at great price. Given the new ebikes, disk brakes and bigger tires out there, I would suggest the bike space be widened since it's not adjustable. Given the above, still very happy with the purchase.

Gilbert: For being "universal" they did the best they could with the installation. It is pretty much easy on, but if someone wants to steal it...easy off. But I attached some anti-theft locking brackets to it so that it would be a challenge to get off.
As far as the use...It works fine with my bikes (32" beach cruiser, 26" mountain bike and 2 20" bmx dirt bikes). It has a tire locking clamp that slides down to grip the tire and once engaged, the bikes are fairly stable. I still need to run a strap across the frame to solidify the tie down, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I follow the recommended method of loading the bikes with the rear wheel to the rack and there is a slight issue of the chain hitting the rack, but it doesn't get in the way. Once it hits, I clamp it in that position and done. My 32" beach cruiser, I have to go in front tire first because I have a long fender on the rear that I wouldn't dare put through the rack, but it ties down just fine. Overall, I am happy with this purchase. Makes my life just a little bit easier when it comes to transporting my bikes around.

RM44G: This rack is made to fit most truck beds but it's not a great fit for my 2002 Tundra due to the uneven shape of the metal on the sides of the truck bed. The metal on the sides of the bed actually slopes in the spot where the suction cup shaped rubber pieces on the end of large bolts are supposed to secure the rack, so I could not tightly secure the rack using just the bolts. Fortunately, I had two 5/16" holes in the top of the bed right below the rear truck window. I secured to 1/4-20 bolts with locknuts to the bed. Then I used two 3/4 electrical conduit brackets and wing nuts with lock washers to secure the rack to the front of the bed and it barely moves at all now.

But my bike does move around a bit in the rack. I have a 29'er but the back wheel just fits in the rack with the clamp in the highest position over the tire. Still, there is play on the sides of the tire. The foam pads are not very useful and the bike moves around a lot so I put more foam in to wedge the tire in tighter. Even with that I have to secure the front wheel with bungies and even then if I hit a bump the whole bike can move, lean and go crooked (no longer perpendicular) to the rack,...

W. Parker: I read the other reviews and I agree with just about all of them. I needed a rack for my F-250's bed so I can take our bikes on vacation. I wanted them upright and didn't like the hitch carrier we use on our car and I needed something that was easily removeable. When it came in, I found the instructions were a little vague on the lack of a third full size spacer for the rack. The rack seemed adjustable, but I couldn't figure it out. I called Heininger and they were very helpful and all I had to do was "coax" the middle uprights together on the back frame a little with a rubber mallet to get the front together to lock it in place. Heininger was right, the additional spacer is not needed, the instructions were a little lacking on this info though. The rack doesn't seem adjustable with the full size spacers right out of the box, but it is. You will need a strap to keep the bikes upright as they will move some driving, but as another reviewer posted, it's no big deal. Take your time mounting it and make sure it hits the bed with the rubber feet well. It's a little tough on my Ford with the curves on the bed at the bottom, but it works. Overall, I like it a...
