Music Lover: Read the last WARNING sentence of the poorly written instructions first!!!!
I pulled the webbing through the ratchet but did not take the slack out of it before tightening the ratchet. I did not read the last line but to be honest even if I did I am not sure that it would have made sense. They should have said "Remove as much slack in the webbing before tightening".
The ratchet worked perfectly for my purpose which was to reglue the back of a chair. With much effort I was finally able to free the webbing for future use. I was lucky
For $15 I was able to repair an expensive chair but but the instructions are terrible with very small photos that are not helpful.

Johnson: I have been looking for something like this for a long time, as a beekeeper i needed something to hold filter cloths in place on honey containers prior to filtering honey, for years i have been putting up with filter cloths ending up in the honey when the securing straps allowed the cloths to slip, with these straps i can have a lot of honey filtering in one go and no slipping at all.

SisiJ: These ratchet straps worked without fail to tie down very heavy furniture in a van. The furniture travelled across country on bumpy roads and deep curves, and the straps held everything perfectly. I am pleased.
The only difficulty was with the instructions. They were not clear for someone without experience, which was the case for me.
