Amazon Customer: I needed a jack to lift heavy furniture. I know it seems like overkill to use such a heavy duty type as this but all the ones advertised to move furniture were either very flimsy, very small, very expensive or not up to the task even though the vendors professed they were. This jack lifted my very heavy bed easily and allowed me to put protective sliding pads under each leg. I was able to move the bed easily after that. Plus now I have a jack for my car since they don't necessarily come with them anymore! All at a very reasonable price.

Alan W. McEwan: The deceptive part of a scissor jack's load rating is the fact that its maximum (advertised) load rating is applicable only when the jack is at its full height. This is probably not understood by most purchasers. Reported failures are most likely caused by the jack being overloaded before it reaches the advertised load capacity. It would be helpful to most consumers if the manufacturer included the load rating at different heights in the on-line specifications to aid the buyer in selecting the right jack.
