Cons- The jar is made of glass, so it is not as durable as plastic. The Hamilton Beach 58148A Blender is the perfect tool to help you create delicious shakes, smoothies, and more. With a powerful 700 watt motor and 12 functions, this blender has the power to crush ice, puree, and blend your ingredients to perfection. The 40 oz. glass jar is perfect for larger batches and its black and stainless steel design will look great in any kitchen. Plus, you can count on Hamilton Beach for excellent customer service and support. Pros: Peak blending power for smooth ice crushing, 700 watt power blender for consistently smooth results, 12 blending functions for varied requirements.Connie Connors: This is the best. I am a smoothie junkie and I waited to upgrade from the personal blender which finally broke. I don't know why I waited so long. This is the most bang for your buck blender (and I've owned all kinds including a Ninja, which is in storage) you could ever acquire. It works with frozen fruit and ice, no problem. It's quiet and doesn't cause a mini-earthquake. It's so easy to clean. Initially, I thought it was a heavy pitcher, but I would never go back to plastic. This is really one of those, "what did I do before this," kind of purchases.

bryceguy72: Let's be honest, you are not going to use the 12 speeds available on those fancy high-end blenders that cost upwards of $100. You're going to use two or three speeds at most. This blender has two speeds: Low and High. After a solid week of making smoothies, two speeds is plenty. I've used all kinds of ingredients and this blender powers through them all: large kale leaves with stems, big crumpled wads of spinach I shoved in there, peanuts, almonds, big chunks of ice, etc. It has not jammed.
Side note: I cannot believe how edible kale and spinach are when part of a smoothie. They no longer taste like lawn clippings. They are actually quite edible (or drinkable) with protein powder, chopped nuts, berries, peanut butter, milk, etc.
The blender has five buttons: Off, Low, High, Low Pulse, and High Pulse. When you press the Low or High buttons the blender stays on. When you press either of the "pulse" buttons, the blender is on only while you hold the button down.
The jar (which holds the ingredients) is made of thick sturdy glass. The cover and base are made of plastic.
There are two slots in the plastic cover: One for adding ingredients as you're blending,...

goyko: As someone who reads reviews before buying things like this, if you gonna crush ice with it, I don’t know how it handles it since that’s not what I needed this for. For those who actually wanna blend fruits and vegetables, for this cost blender works great.

RFJohns: No dislikes and easier to clean.
Special smoothie button allows your drinks in my case with a variety of nuts totalling blended.

Anwar: We likes the the product as a whole especially jug made of glass and not of plastic. The running sound is a bit more yet it is good for the price

My experiences: This isn't a Vitamix by any stretch of the imagination. But it's I think it's a decent value for the price. Where else can you get a 40oz 5 speed blender with a glass pitcher for under $40 USD? I picked this blender for a couple of reasons
1. The previous blender I had for over 15 years was a Hamilton Beach
2. The toaster I have is also a Hamilton Beach, which I’ve had for over 20 years.
Do I like it? I think so...
Short recap of below
1. For a sub $50.00 blender I like it. It works well
2. I really like the (heavy) glass pitcher. This is the main reason why I purchased it.
3. I like the base (motor) it feels solid, and it works very well
4. It’s quieter than my old Hamilton Beach blender, which is my only point of reference. For me that’s good.
5. The button feel very similar to my old blender which lasted a long time, so that too is good.
6. I REALLY don’t like how hard the top is to remove
7. I don’t like the cheap feel of the plastic bits attached to the pitcher
What I like
1. I like the glass pitcher - yes it's heavy but it's also made of glass thick enough to withstand crushing ice relatively quietly. Plastic pitches...

Harriet Spaghetti: I've used this blender more or less on a daily basis with frozen fruits and vegetables for about two months. I knew that I would be getting a lot of use out of it, and have had experience with both low end blenders (always disappointing) and high end blenders (from working at a smoothie making business), and was a little bit hesitant to purchase one at this price point, rather than investing in a higher end, more powerful one.
However, I was happily surprised by both the quality and easy of use of this blender. It has a very solid glass jar (I've had bad experiences with cracks in the jars of cheaper plastic blenders). It also comes apart for easy cleaning and can go in the dishwasher. It's so easy to clean and used so frequently in my household that I rarely need to put it in the dishwasher unless I'm in a rush. The motor may not be as powerful as some more high end blenders, but as long as you make sure to start with a liquid base, it has no trouble blending frozen foods.
The only caveat that I have is that, about a month into use, my unit started leaking. At first, I thought it was because I was putting it back together incorrectly, but then I noticed a small...

Haley H: I am happy with this blender for the cost. Note: the lid is hard to place tightly on the top of the blender and even harder to take off. It is not a big deal, as I typically just hold it onto the top of the blender. But it is annoying when I would like to multi-task and instead I have to stand there and hold the lid on (OR have to struggle with fitting it on and off and potentially spill my smoothie). First world problem, but wanted to make the note :) I love that it has only the one piece for the blade and then one piece to twist on top of that ... makes it very easy and simple to clean.
