LostMyLuggage: Used this box in a tiny Weber grill…the type you buy at the hardware store for $14.00. Weren’t sure it would fit, but it did. Added hickory chips which were soaked for about a half hour. Grilled a steak and it was delicious.

David K. Crabtree: This item actually works on a gas grill if you are just looking for a little flavor. I removed the far left hand diffuser / triangle shaped thingy's of my four burner grill and tried it on top of the burner.....for a second or two. Then my brain kicked in. "Hey, you cannot block the flames dummy", so I had to put it on top of the drill grates. Not a puff of smoke.....until I turned on the two right burners to cook the food. Then I had tons of smoke and flame. So I turned off the far left burner and that seemed to help. Sorry guys, but this will not substitute for a real smoker. You just cannot regulate the heat to the ideal temp of 225-250 F . It is wonderful though for adding some very nice flavor to the overall taste. I'll keep playing with it to see if I can better control the temp and get some smoke. Do not know how it might work on charcoal.
