Shared Acres: I bought this for Boy Scout camping and using in our RV. We don't drink coffee, but my kids like hot chocolate and oatmeal. With Boy Scouts you have to tent camp and it was going to be really cold. So I bought this and in the morning went down to the bathroom and turned it on while I was pottying, dressing, etc. and then went back to the campsite and the kids all got hot chocolate to warm themselves. Worked out great. It will do about 3 small/regular cups.

1Elley1: My main purpose to buy this was to get a space saving kettle. So keeping that in mind, this was perfect as it folds down to a 1/3 of its size and packs away nicely. BUT here’s some other aspects to consider:
- it has no boil off switch and no whistle, so you do need to keep an eye on it and turn off when it’s boiling vigorously
- the cord is super short at 29” so measure for the outlet you want to use it with. Get a twist tie to keep the cord bundled together
- it is a collapsible kettle so be very careful when pouring so that it doesn’t collapse on itself. I’ve found if I pour carefully and support the bottom, it’s fine but otherwise it can be a little scary if you forget
- I have used it 3x so far and don’t see any scaling but I also make sure that it’s dried out before I fold it and store away
Like I said, I wanted something very compact and boils water and this did the job without (pun not intended) the bells and whistles.

Elizabeth : For me, this has everything to do with convenience. We went to visit a place that didn't have coffee pots in the room. I set this up, filled it with water and we had tea nearly instantly. I haven't put anything else in the pot because it states that it is designed to only heat water. Well, it did. It is collapsible and takes up hardly any space at all. I was quite leased. Then, my neighbor's stove went out and I loaned him this so he could have his tea in the morning. He loved it and told my husband he wants one also. This is another product that just looks like a cheap little piece of plastic, but does a great job at doing what it is supposed to do. I recommend to anyone who travels or simply as spare water kettle.

Stringcat3: Would have been 5 stars, but the lid, which is not silicone, gets very hot when full boil is reached. If I could give it, I'd rate this item 4.5 stars. Fortunately, you don't need to touch the lid to pour. After a few seconds the lid temperature comes down sufficiently to where you can touch the lid. So, not a deal breaker, but not ideal, either. I wrote "Don't touch lid" in marker on the lid, as when one is in a morning fog it's easy to forget. I also marked the molded fill lines in black marker so they're easier to see in low light.

The 3-cup/.7L capacity is perfect for two mugs, as a mug is usually 12 oz. I tested by making black tea, no milk, and did not find any flavor impairment.

Before first use, you boil a full kettle of water, dump, rinse, repeat. That's it. I noticed that the kettle interior dries much more quickly than the metal interior of my big electric kettle, which is a huge plus for a travel item.

Kettle plus cord weigh 1 lb 3 oz/541 grams.
