John Darrah: This unit just marginally worked when I first installed it using the most sensitive setting. It now just works sporadically if at all. This might just be a quality control issue, but I won't buy another one just to find out.

UPDATE 08/31/22 -- In contact with seller to replace unit. This review will be updated when replacement has been adequately tested.

UPDATE 09/10/11 -- I installed the replacement unit and began testing it over several nights. It seems to work about the same as the previous unit I installed a year prior before it failed. One thing I can say is that the 180 degree sensing ability claim is absolutely false. These units detect at about 45 degrees at best. Many of my test attempts showed that I had to move directly in front of the unit before I was detected. All I can say at this point is that it works better than the first one which degraded over time to where an Indian rain dance in front of it wouldn't be detected.

I wish I could say I was moving this to a 5 star review, but that's not happening because the sensor is not adequate in my opinion. In closing, the problem with the sensor seems to be systemic with many different brands, which...

BenDIY: Due to construction I didn't inbox for 5-6 weeks. I installed. Like others say, one light works and the other doesn't.
THE SELLER IS A RESELLER, SO NO WARRANTY unless someone has a magic in with the Chinese manufacturer.. so.. you're out of luck.
They stick to their guns with their 30 day return. Notice they have not commented on any review nor rectified.
Buy at risk.. now I have 2 beautifully mounted, cocked water tight lights but one doesn't work, and based 9n the reviews, the other will fail eventually.
I don't normally write bad reviews, but disappointed when people don't own their product.

JoJoCamel: Firstly, the company is extremely responsive. I give them an easy five stars for top-shelf customer service. Onto the install. I installed the first unit and "tested it" during daylight hours. It functioned exactly as it should. Once evening rolled in it wouldn't illuminate. There was nothing I could do to get it to go on. I removed it and packaged it for return. Why did I have it replaced with the same brand unit? Because feedback indicated this was one of the better units available. The company had a new one on my doorstep the next afternoon. I mean, the next afternoon. I installed it and the same issue presented itself that evening. I knew (surmised) that two units couldn't be non-functional. It had to be something else. Then it hit me; the infrared emanating from my security cameras might be saturating the sensor in the light. And that was the case. I turned the light's sensor away from the cameras and it came to life. This issue didn't present itself with my previous light. But to be fair, the sensor was physically "fixed" in position and was located at the top of the lantern, likely not as much in the field of the cameras. As such, it may not have picked up infrared. DTJrDTJr: Bright! Very bright!!

After installing it during the daytime and using the test function to verify its operation, I didn't think much of the light output. It didn't seem impressive at the time, but oh boy was I wrong. When I checked it's operation at night - oh my word!! This thing throws out so much light! Look at the photos I've uploaded to get a sense of the output. It's strong enough to throw light all the way to the cabin across the street and they're really not that close.

As for the fixture itself, it has a nice textured metal housing for the base and light heads (motion sensor housing is plastic) and it looks to be sealed up well against the elements. Time will tell how it handles rain and snow. I'll update this if there are any problems come winter time. The instructions state you should follow up the install with silicon sealant around the gasket if installing in wet locations. Since this is an outdoor light, everyone should follow this. Keep that in mind as one other thing to buy if you don't have some already. A small squeeze bottle of silicon is ~$4-5.
