Craft Engineer: I purchased this after my plastic one shattered.
One thing of note is that the glass conducts heat more, so using with hot liquids (compensating for temperature) should be done with gloves.
It is a quality part that works well.

Steven: Purchased this for its intended use with a hydrometer to be used in the brewing of meads, ciders, wines, sake etc. Glass is sturdy and the cleaning brush it comes with is large and makes the cleaning process much easier.
Note: There are no volumetric readings on the side. I didnt expect there to be but amazon might have it classifed slightly wrong.

Steve: This came in a single piece, unlike the last one I ordered.
For those that care, there are NO measurements on this.
it is just a well built NON GRADUATED tube. I was NOT
expecting any marks, so that doesn't matter to me. IT
WORKS just like it should, and for that, got 5 stars. Twice!
I hated to post that it wasn't "easy to read," or "accuracy,"
with a single star. But, a shovel can't fix a car. This CANNOT
"read," or be "accurate." (Just like that shovel can't fix a car.)
However, the hydrometer used inside, CAN be easy to read,
and can also be accurate. And, both were. (I guess some
might think the hydrometer may be difficult to read in this,
but I had NO issues.) Both a regular fermentation and "proof
and traille" hydrometer.

justin: Tipped it over the first time I used it!! Didn't even break, thanks to the ring around the tube. Glass is sturdy and crystal clear. Would definitely but another if my dog ate it.

psychedelicsnowwhite: This is my first time making maple syrup. I just moved last year to a new home that has many maple trees and got super excited to start making it. When I was reading and researching how to make it and what I would need, I decided to purchase a hydrometer and test tube. I bought the hydrometer from this company and it is exquisite as well. The hydrometer I purchases is specifically for maple syrup but I know they sell them for many other types of testing as well.
Lots of stores around me sell test tubes but they are the classic metal kind. All of the maple syrup supply stores that I visited online also only sell the metal kind. I chose to buy this one because it is clear and that makes reading the hydrometer very easy.
As for ability to withstand heat, I have used it for many batches of syrup this year and I often test it right out of the currently boiling pot and the tube has been totally fine having boiling hot (~220*F) syrup poured into it.
I am sure that it is a lot more breakable than the metal kind and it does feel delicate so I am just super duper careful when handling it. I always store it back in the box it came in and when I am not using it but still...

Benjamin Ross: I'm brand new to the art of fermentation. I was in a mad dash to collect all of the necessary equipment to start a batch of hard cider during my time off over Christmas; and in my haste, I thought that I had ordered a full hydrometer when, in fact, I had ordered only the test tube and brush.
My error aside, Brewing America's product was sturdy and came in minimal but attractive packaging.
Thank you to Angela and the folks at Brewing America for helping me figure out what I needed to get my cider started.
A real pleasure to deal with.

Amazon Customer: The tube indeed has a good design and size for measurements. Not too wide, not too narrow. Just right! Works well with most hydrometers too. Built of solid glass, so it's very stable. However, be careful not to break it. The glass will shatter on tiny bits and pieces. It's a nightmare to clean up.
My first order came completely shattered. I opened it carefully and even than cut myself. Took me sometime to clean up invisible pieces that came out of the box. Thanks to amazon service, the second order came in fine.
Awarding 4 stars for using glass that can break on such small pieces. Overall, happy with the product.
