Kindle Customer: This was very low priced on Amazon. I wanted to listen to a number George Orwell books.
A will written British 🏰👑 adventure novella of George Orwell's life and relationships with friends and fellow workers in Paris and London. What a hard life he had. I would recommend this novella and author to 👍 readers of personal historical society novels 👍🔰. 2023 👒😀😡😮

WTF2016: TINY little book, as all are these in the series. Tiny little pocket books. Very cool but hard to read. My fault, I just didn't pay any attentiion. But cool little books if that's what you want. Very nice but VERY SMALL.

Ned Depew: Although Orwell, with his background, education and social network, is clearly deliberately slumming here, he appears to have done it with such commitment and openness that it paints a clear picture of the life of the homeless in the days of the infancy of the social safety net. Many of the social effects, like the stigmatization of the poor and homeless, and the confining loop of obstacles society puts on the way of their ability to change their situation still hold true.

ABerryesq: There are a few typos which can be relatively easily understood.
It is very strange that I remembered very little of the Paris section, but nearly everything from the UK part. I originally read this nearly sixty years ago. Perhaps, at that time, I could empathize with London (where I lived). Having now visited Paris many times, I have a different perception. What strange tricks the mind plays.
A compelling book that drags one in.
Well worth reading (again).

Amazon Customer: I am a totally hardcore Orwell fan. This book is a perfect reason way. It seems like he grabs your collar and tells you the truth.

gourmet girl: Often criticized by the general populace as being lazy, drunk and looking for a handout, there is not a one-size-fits-all solution to people experiencing homelessness and/or poverty in 2022 anymore than when this book was penned in 1933. Each person has their own story, their own path and hopefully their own solution. As the author suggests, programs that capitalize on peoples’ skills, knowledge and determination by giving them work, food, shelter and clothing brings to life their dignity, their soul and enriches all of humanity. “But for the grace of God, goes I.”

Poindexter: Very attractive book but the print is very tiny. Description does not make this clear. I am very disappointed.

Paulo Roberto Gotac: I believe in the quality of the book because the author is one of my preferred. It happens however that I could not read this book becuase the edition transposed to my Kindle came with aggregated symbols like & and # among others. Thank you.

Ramees: Please buy through the other listing. This has terrible typo issues and layout. Fractured text and other issues. Makes reading a cumbersome experience.
