Amazon Customer: Works very well and has been for a couple years. I run this thing alot and has never failed me. Just remember to keep up on oil changes

Phil: I waited about a year now to write this review as I thought I would use it first to provide a useful evaluation of their product. I received this generator by mail and it had zero damages or issues from new. I contacted Generac to register the warranty and they were very helpful and polite. This thing is amazing on fuel, quiet and lightweight. I have only had to change the oil (easy as pie) and put fuel stabilizer in it when I am done for the season (camping in Canada). I am really happy with this purchase and compared to brand name products, I could almost purchase 3 of these to end up at the same financial place. I do not use this for a commercial application, just a few camping trips a year and it has worked out just fine (probably 50-60 hrs on this unit so far).

PaulTD: Later on 5-25-2021, day of delivery. Generator would run 30-40 minutes, then stop. After a while it could be started and run again. Each time I checked the oil level and fuel. It uses little fuel. I went through tech support, they determined it was defective, issued a full refund, and told me to keep the generator! I was speechless.

I worked on it for a while, determined that the fuel line was improperly installed and kinking, cutting off the fuel to a trickle. I shortened the line, straightened it out, and it now seems to be running fine. I noticed it seeping oil past the oil filler cap. I determined that they probably should have used a fat o-ring instead of a flat rubber gasket. I put on an o-ring, plus the original gasket, and I'm testing it all.

Amazon totally rocks, unbelievably great customer service.

Initial review, 5-25/2021: Well packaged, no damage in shipping, very solid well-made quality. I followed owners manual to the letter - add oil, check carefully, add fuel, open vent cap, put throttle on 'choke', turn off 'economy' switch. I pulled it slowly a few times to let oil circulate. Then I pulled, and pulled, and pulled. No start. Tried throttle on...

Shawn I.: So far I have only 2 hours on it, will update later on if I run into an issue with additional run time.

The manual doesn't really indicate any sort of break in procedure other than changing the oil after its first 30 hours, then every 50 afterwards, also to use the oil it came with and not switch to synthetic until the 30 hour mark.

I installed an hour meter to keep track of it for maintenance intervals.

Since there was no written procedure for breaking in this engine, I devised my own based on my experiences with small engines.

During the first 90 minutes I let it idle in Eco mode with no load. I was shutting it down and letting it cool several times in the first 90 minutes to heat cycle it. Then after the 90 minutes I took it out of eco and let it idle with no load for another 30 minutes. After that I put a 600 watt load, then a 1000 watt load on it, cyclingthe load on and off to again heat cycle the motor.

The motor was running very nicely after this, as during the first little while it would sputter and miss occasionally. Now it idles smooth as silk and can take on a sudden load with no issue. Also keep in mind to fine tune the choke if it is...

Sean M.: My family just went through a 55 hour power outage after a tornado in our area. We decided that we want to be better prepared for the next time. We lost most of the contents of our fridge and some our our deep freezer. After looking at many reviews and generator types I decide on this one. We know that this generator will not run the entire house but this was more about providing power for the essentials in an emergency. I just don't have the space for a massive 7000 watt generator and the noise those make would probably drive my neighbors crazy.

After putting the oil/fuel in the generator it started up on the first pull. I let it break in for the first hour, then changed the oil. Tests of this generator are very positive. I am able to run my upstairs fridge and our deep freezer in economy mode with no trouble at all. This will also run the power vent on my gas hot water heater. I am looking at getting an electrician to wire my gas furnace up to a plug and receptacle to allow me to run that as well. I have no illusions that this little generator will run all of that stuff at the same time but it does provide plenty of emergency power for my needs.

The generator runs...

Jay Man: The media could not be loaded.  I was skeptical about buying this brand since I have a Honda 2200 inverter as well that I really like, but I needed a 2nd one and Honda is double the price as this one.
This does come with oil and a funnel for putting the oil in the motor since it is shipped dry. One thing to keep in mind that the overload light comes on for about a minute when you first start it which is normal operation. I bought this as insurance when if the power goes out since we get a lot of storms here and I live out in a rural area. DO NOT RUN ETHANOL GAS in this or any small engine!
Lots of reviews on generators in general of sitting with gas and not starting weeks later. Ethanol gas gums up the carburetor if it sits too long. I run non-ethanol premium gas in all my equipment.
Because of the amount power of startup on appliances, this would run one big freezer or a big frig, or a small chest freezer and a frig. Mine I run a big freezer, some led lights, router and a laptop. The 2nd Honda 2200 watt I run another small freezer and a big frig. It is actually cheaper to buy 2 of these then a 4,000 watt inverter generator. I have one that runs the upstairs and the...

Jason Osmond: Ordered on September 4, the day the State of Emergency was declared here in Florida for Hurricane Irma, with plenty of time to get it fueled up and oiled up and checked out before we lost power early morning of the 11th. Generator handily powered both a side-by-side refrigerator and a small chest freezer, as well as a desktop PC, cable internet modem and wifi router, and various fans and LED light fixtures, all simultaneously, along with intermittent use of a hot plate and 700 watt microwave. Typical runtime with that load was 9 - 10 hours. Overnight we would disconnect the refrigerator and freezer (both stayed plenty cool overnight) and run the unit on Eco Mode from about midnight to 8am, and then would boil enough water for coffee and tea using an electric kettle, and fry up a quick breakfast using an electric hotplate before hooking up the fridge and freezer again. This load would get us about 12 hours on a tank of gas. I estimated for our purposes it used about 2 1/2 gallons per 24 hours of runtime. For the first couple of days we ran only ethanol-free gas through it, after that we had to refill our cans and had to settle for what we could get, but the generator still seemed...
