GE XWF Refrigerator Water Filter - White - Compatible with GE Appliances

Bert: I purchased two of these filters . the first one I installed worked fine. The second did not work. Water would not flow.
When I ordered from GE they said they've heard of this before. Do not order from Amazon

chelsea: Works great. Confusing to install on this fridge but it works. You have to pull out the old filter then hold down the filter percentage button until it beeps then put the new one in.

SAO: All stocked up for another year and a half! Water is nice and clear and tasteless. These filters are easy to install. A bit pricey, but cheaper than buying bottled water!

Kevin R: I have this on auto-delivery because no offbrand filter will work with my new fridge. I'm sure that there's a workaround to the chip attached to the filter, but I haven't gotten that smart yet. It's painfully over-priced. It's easy to install and works just fine of course, but I don't like having only 1 option.

Bookworm: Do NOT buy knock offs of this water filter, been there, done that! The knock offs do not fit properly. If they fit, the water will not come out saying there is an error. The error is you got taken! The Amazon one above fits perfectly in GE refrigerators that recommend this model. These are easy to replace, push up and 1/4 turn, then fill water for a couple gallons, dump first few amounts of ice. Personally recommend turning off ice maker prior to replacing filter. Dump former ice bucket, do the water fills for a couple of gallons, then a days worth of ice dumps to clear the line that is still connected to ice maker.. then you are ready for filtered water and ice again for 6 months+.

Lou in Miami: All XWFE filters are not created equal. I purchased a cheap XWFE filter online, and I wasted $30 because after installing it in my GE model: GSS25IYNXHFS, my ice and water dispenser didn't work, and it displayed an ERR massage. My fridge is a newer model and GE requires that only a filter with an embedded chip be used. FYI... there are a lot of imposter filters out there that will not work on models like mine. Although the Amazon listing did not specifically state that the filter included a chip... I was pleasantly surprised that it did, so I'm back in business. The chip is located underneath the upper part of filter label... if you look carefully it is visible.

Les compagnies de réfrigérateur ont compris quand mettants une puce électronique pour être compatible avec leur frigo cela leur permettre de les vendre à des prix beaucoup trop cher par rapport au même filtre sans puces électronique générique.
Ils empêchent ainsi les filtres génériques à meilleur prix à fonctionner sir leur frigo.

Tx-Bill: I bought this for my elderly parents and was surprised when it didn't work. My mother told my father "You must have installed it wrong! Bill, come show your father how to do it right." We followed all enclosed instructions and it gave nothing but an error message and would not function. Using the Amazon return for a defective product, they shipped a new one out immediately and it arrived the next day. This one plugged in and worked instantly. The defective item was dropped off at an Amazon Hub on my way somewhere else today with no questions or fuss.

I could remove a star for the first unit being defective, but every manufacturer has lemons and I won't fault the item or manufacturer for that. This device has an RF chip so it can be recognized by the fridge and such a thing can get broken or corrupted easily while in transit; either by magnetism or physical damage that is invisible to the naked eye. This product works perfectly, even though the first one was a dud. It cost us nothing for the replacement and my father's ego is on the mend.

5/5 stars for a quality item (the second one, at least)
