david canford: What a wonderful book. It will make you laugh and it will make you cry, especially if you love dogs. It will also make you think about what's important in life. The novel is narrated from the dog's point of view and written so well. I will remember this book for a long time.

Frederick: I love this book. If you have a dog or have had the privilege of being a dog parent, this book is for you. But, let me give you a head's up you will need the tissues because you will laugh and cry. As a parent, all the things that you wonder if your four-legged wonder thinks or schemes at times, Garth Stein proves us right in this story. This is a beautiful tale of love between a dog and his human parent. Even now, as I sit here and share this review with you, Sophie, the Schnauzer, is dreaming, snoring, and occasionally checking to ensure I am close.
People say we choose our animal companion, but honestly, it is safe to communicate and confirm that they choose us. For Sophie and I, it was love at first site, and we have had many adventures together already, and she is only five. The unconditional love that she and others bring into our lives daily is wonderful and truly unselfish on their part. If you love your furry companion, want a sneak peek into their thoughts, and want a good book to relax with and decompress from the outside world, this is it; look no further.

Lily Williams: Where do I start with this book.
I lost my fur baby two weeks ago - he was my best friend for 2/3rds of my life, and he would have been 14 yesterday. I asked a Facebook group for readers and authors, for recommendations on books dealing with this subject as I will be the first to admit - I am not coping well.
I will be forever thankful to Ralph for recommending this to me.
I was crying by page 3. We followed the life of Enzo, a loveable Labrador mix puppy who is as close to human as a dog can get. I was in love with Enzo and the way he saw the world immediately. The book shows how forgiving, loving and understanding a dog is. We could all do with being a bit more dog.
The book was nothing like I expected - and covered an amazing & huge range of topics. There is also a young readers adapted version (that I accidentally read until page 100 before realising), which I think is an amazing idea.
This book broke my heart, but also comforted me to no end. It’s lovely to think that my boy might have seen the world like Enzo, and I hope he felt as loved as Enzo did. If you have a pet - give them an extra scratch and hug today.
100/10, could...

W. Jones: This is a story told from the point of view of a very smart, very likable dog named Enzo. That's the hook in play here, and it works far better than I ever imagined. In fact, I'm taken quite by surprise at how much I love this book.
I love my dog. I never knew I could love a dog so much before I met him, and maybe that's why I never gave this book a chance before. I'd seen it, of course. At Walmart and Barnes and Noble, it seemed like this book was everywhere I went for a while. I'd even picked it up and read the cover copy more than once. The title always grabbed me—I've been a racing fan for most of my life and I knew that the ability to drive a race car in the rain is considered the truest test of a driver's skill—but I had no interest in reading a story about dogs or investing any amount of time in a story told by a dog, no matter how many bestseller lists it ended up on.
Not until my own dog came into my life.
I purchased this book on sale for Kindle two and a half years ago and only started reading it yesterday. To be honest, I was scrolling through my cloud library and had forgotten it was there. I don't know that I even intended to start reading...
