Dom BucciarelliDom Bucciarelli: I liked the heavy gauge aluminum track and the thick multi-layer rubber seal. I installed it myself using clamps to hold the aluminum track in place while I drove the screws. Got all four track segments aligned pretty much perfectly across the bottom edge of my garage door this way.

Installing the rubber seal involved some trial & error due to the seal getting deformed and flattened out while in the box. I had to re-form the seal back into its proper “U” shape in order to get it to feed into the tracks properly. I ended up using a zip tie as shown in the picture to get it lined up as it got fed into the tracks. Also, I sprayed both the track and the seal liberally with soapy water to help it slide in smoothly.

Using this method I was able to slide the seal into the track about 6-8” at a time, while re-forming the U shape and sliding the zip tie back to hold things in place. Probably a lot easier for two people.

Ronald C. Marks: I was concerned with this being delivered in only 3-foot segments for the aluminum track. I shouldn't have. First, it made installation a breeze. High quality with pre-drilled wholes. There were no supplied screws. But, that worked out better because it allowed me to select the best screw for my application. I was installing into an existing metal bottom segment on my door. I opted for self-drilling screws (8 x 1/2").

Installation of the single piece rubber weather strip required two people for my 16-foot door. I may have been able to do it alone. But, it was definitely easier with a helper.

There was plenty of extra length in both the aluminum track and rubber strip.

Definitely recommend for the DIYer. You can do this. So do! No more excuses.

C. Pool: I have a Crawford wooden garage door that is pretty heavy - it is a double wide (16 foot) door and when I bought the house the seal looked okay. The winter snow melt proved that it wasn't so I replaced it with a wimpy seal - I noticed as soon as I'd finished that the door shut about 1/2 lower than previously - the original color was white, the last paint job (to sell the house to us) was a light tan or light "harvest gold". Still, I had spent money and sweat-equity so I looked at that white strip at the top of the door for 5 years before I had to do something.

I looked on websites and found systems with brackets that seals could be placed into. They all were a pretty penny, some more than others. But how could I get that 1/2 inch back? I didn't want to add more weight to the door! When I saw this model and looked at the prices, I figured why not amazon and purchased it. Better safe than sorry, I ordered the 20 foot length. They say foresight is cheap - and in this case it was an extra $7-8 dollars. I knew the aluminum brackets were going to be problematic - but I'm an old hand with a hacksaw. Better to have a spare bracket afterward than to have cut something too short or...

Another UserAnother User: This product meets expectations: It creates a seal at the bottom of the door. If you had trouble recheck your work. Most likely it was user error.

A 20ft track will actually be 19.75, and same goes for the other lengths, meaning you will have a slightly shorter track than the actual length of the garage door.

If you don't like it shorter, order a size up and cut your track down to the length of your door using a miter box and a hack saw.

My wife did this by taping all but the last section of track to the garage door bottom, marking the length that needed to be cut, and made a new screw hole at the end of the cut section. You can then tape the remaining piece up to check the fit. My wife did this the with no challenge and she's a small person.

1. Tape the track to the base of the door, make sure the sections are taped tightly at the seams so they don't move and check that you're not shifting them as you do the next part; drilling.

2. Drill the holes, using a drill bit made for metal that is as thick as the core of your screws but not wider than the thread so that the screws won't fall out and can catch the metal. You may have to start with a...

JoleneJolene: The media could not be loaded.  The rubber quality is very bad. This rubber strip is fragile like a biscuit. It cracks along the lines while installing it. It has no elasticity or toughness at all. It is simply a garbage product. Both ends of the garage can only be wrapped with iron sheets, otherwise it will crack along the lines. Too disappointed!Amazon shouldn't be selling such a bad quality product.
