Penny: I didn’t realize it had coils inside as the original one I had was all cloth (not as comfortable as the cloth) but that is not the fault of the manufacturer it is good value for what I paid. Work just fine

Jami: When we moved across country from Washington DC to Arizona (and 6 months later) to Oregon, we had limited space in our Uhaul trailer so we only took the necessary items. For us that meant leaving behind (throwing away) the old futon mattress but keeping the futon couch frame. The frame disassembled takes up much less space. Moving is not fun when you have to do it 3 times in one year, so we downsized - a lot! Enough of the back story.. you want to know what I think about this mattress, right?

Having finally settled in our new, small townhouse with significantly less room for furniture and "stuff" than before, we needed a futon mattress for our frame so that we'd have a couch to sit on (and a place for visiting family to sleep, if desired). Of course we're going to order it from Amazon because who wants to deal with transporting it from the store when UPS will deliver it to our doorstep for $10? I went back and forth on the 6-inch or 8-inch then finally decided on the 6-inch, as I thought the 8 inch might be too think and difficult to fold into the couch position. ddbunbo: This mattress is a really good value. Like others, I was skeptical of buying something like this online without being able to try it out first. I was extremely surprised when it showed up. Really fast shipping (was here in less than a week) and was conveniently packaged all scrunched up in a large duffel bag type package. Like the instructions said, leave it out for a couple of days to fluff itself up and it becomes full sized.

This mattress is really comfy. We mostly us it as a couch with minimal sleeping but I have taken a couple of naps on it and I have no complaints. We had a futon frame with no mattress and we used this to replace a very puffy/soft/comfy couch...no complaints. Our futon frame is wooden with close slats so we don't need to worry about feeling bars thru the mattress, but I think this mattress would work well with lower end futons with bars...I am guessing you would not feel the bars thru it.

As others have complained about, there is a nasty chemical smell in the mattress that is very difficult to get rid of. My wife doesn't seem to mind it and cannot really even tell it is there but it drives me nuts. I think everyone might just have different...
