Ginger LawyerGinger Lawyer: I have two 4 month old puppies and I unfortunately don't have a fenced in back yard yet. My guys are about 40 pounds, but will likely get up to about 100 when full grown. I bought two of these to replace some thinner diameter leads I bought at a brick and mortar store. The old leads constantly tangled up with each other, and started to look like a retro phone cord, often causing my boys to trip on them. I was constantly wading into the fray, trying to make sure neither of them got hurt.

These leads are a lifesaver! I bought the 30 foot leads in silver for dogs up to 250 pounds after doing a lot of comparison shopping, not wanting to get another coiled up mess. I wish I had gotten these ages ago! The lead is well constructed in such a way to avoid getting kinks or tangled together. It is much better quality for the price than what I was seeing at the pet store for $30 dollars. My boys can easy wrassle and play with each other without the leads coiling around their legs and tripping them. I would highly recommend this for people with two dogs. I can tell my guys are appreciating the difference too, because they are playing longer and not being jerked around the neck when they...

Noel King: A bit stiff but did its job. Was tough to find one in the size. Used it for camping with the boss pet prestige dome stake.

My dog doesn't pull hard. He is medium, 65ish pounds but good muscle.

Also used tree trolly by aspen pet, which was more versatile.

Tele: Works well, plastic does not fray as quickly as on others, and is as strong as advertised. I would buy it again.

Update June 2016: have had this for a little over 10 months and my initial review still holds. It has finally frayed enough (the plastic sheath more so than the actual metal cable strands) to where I am replacing it. The clasps have not rusted. This stays outside year round and the area is dirt and rocks, so I have been impressed that it has lasted this long, unlike others we have had in the past. If you are on a grass area this will last much longer. The dog is 60 lbs and can sometimes charge rather hard when he sees deer or a fox. This cable holds him back. So overall I am pleased. Of course I would like the plastic sheath to last longer, but I have come to expect this with all tie out's. The price has gone up about $1 since last year. No big deal. This one will now be used for when we travel and go camping as it is still in decent enough shape. As long as the metal strands them self do not fray near the connection area we will continue to use it. A little duck tape helps in the couple spots where the strands could poke you if you grab the tie out.

T Powell: Although this cable is protected by a plastic sheath, the clips are not. This shouldn't really be an issue owing to the metal the clips are made from being Bronze and Bronze doesn't rust. We bought two and clipped them together for additional length and this works well.
Unfortunately after perhaps three months the clips are now rusted quite badly and opening and closing them is a bit harder. We did oil them but when metal containing iron is exposed to the elements daily it will rust...
I know what you're thinking, Bronze doesn't contain iron though...?
Well, these clips are rusting merrily and seeing as Bronze does not rust (it oxidises for those of you who are interested) I think it safe to say that these clips are NOT made from Bronze as stated.

This product is not a complete write off but I do have to replace what is arguably an equally important part of the product in order to continue to get use from it. The cable itself is very good and when I replace these clips I have no doubt that this will last years...The cable is very strong and well wrapped in plastic, shielding not only the cable from the elements but also protecting anything that the metal cable will...
