Dr. Donnacha O'Driscoll: This is a wee laid out guide and was updated post COVID outbreak so a lot of the key info has been updated and in fairness to the publication it acknowledges that we live in a constantly changing world so it flags where info might already be out of date and that you should double check details.

Cindy Frost: Information was not always correct. For example, the Diamond Head Trail has limits on number of hikers and there is a fee.

Jon L Albee: Really, this guide fits a certain type of traveler to Hawaii. If you're a first-timer, and/or your traveling intends to be a series of relatively brief visit to many of the islands, this is a great guide. Great for island hopping and pointing out the not-to-miss places. This book will be far less useful for well-seasoned travelers to Hawaii, or for those who will focus their travel on one location. Andrew Doughty's books published by Wizard are hard to beat if you're headed to one island. But if you're doing the typical three-week, see-everything-possible tour of Hawaii, this is your book. Better than Lonely Planet and more up to date too. Something that may seem obvious, but is not really mentioned specifically, is that Hawaii is one of the most heavily touristed places in the world. Expect a LOT of company.

Sophie-Rose Lefebvre: Good book for general planning. Price ranges listed as cheap are not so cheap. Some good tips.

WI Customer: I ordered this book before our first trip to visit the Hawaiian Islands. I found it SO extremely helpful. It lists and gives descriptions of all the important places to see or visit on each island, dividing things up by north and south shores, east and west. I really liked this, as I could quickly scan what restaurants and things of interest were nearby where we were staying. It also gives great tips throughout the book, telling you how long things might take, or what to bring or not bring for different tours and sights. It gives driving times between major places on the islands. There are helpful maps, extra information (i.e. names of common tropical fish or extra insight on Volcanoes Nat'l Park). I also really liked the detailed information about each place like toilets, lifeguards, great place for snorkeling, little kids, swimming, etc. For another example, it gives the names of the beaches, but then might say something like "look for a little road near...." or "there's a tunnel" or "to the left is...to the right is..." It was just SO helpful! If you are planning a Hawaii trip and are clueless where to start, like I was - This is a wonderful book to have before and during your...
