Invest in the FLIR ONE Pro today and start exploring the world around you in a whole new way. james l. carterjames l. carter: I was hesitant like many other reviewers stated about purchasing, but after using a friends Pro, I jumped into action. Clearly so many people have commented about not having good written instructions in the box. To get the users manual, you need to scan the QR code on the quick start guide that is barely readable and only contains legal stuff. YouTube unboxing videos don’t go into charging, start-up, etc., right out of the box.
Unit come almost fully depleted of charge (mine had 1%). Plug the device in and wait an hour (or until the blinking green light on bottom turns solid). Download the FLIR app while you wait. Once battery is fully charged, open the app, plug in the device, turn on and WAIT, adjust the FLIR to be snug against bottom of phone. The unit takes up to 10 seconds to go through start-up, and connect to the app. You may hear the FLIR lens shutter clicking a few times - this is normal. All of this, I found out on my own. Had the Quick Start paper had any of this, it would have saved me an hour of thinking I received a defective unit (as others reported).
Like others, when my battery is fully charged, it only shows 75% full. It runs down a little faster...

Ken: A great little product with one major flaw: the battery.
This requires a charged battery to operate, and it will only operate for 20 minutes at a time. Then you have to charge it for an hour. Also, it doesn't hold a charge for very long. Since you won't use this every day, whenever you go to use it, the battery will be dead, unless you leave it plugged in all the time.
Speaking of which, it doesn't come with a charging block, just a short usb-c cord. It says it requires a block with an output of 5 volts and 500mh. So if you use your phone charging block, you'll shorten the life of the battery even more. Good luck finding a 500ma charge block in the store nowadays since they're mostly obsolete.
And what happens when the battery dies completely? It's not replaceable.... so buy another camera?? Half of these problems could be been avoided if they just made it able to use your phone battery. And the other half could be fixed by just making the battery replaceable.

N. MacDonald: I don't like the design of this. It is basically a self-contained camera without any user interface, as that is supplied by the phone. What I mean, specifically, is that it has it's own battery and power button and thus it's own charging needs. It's unclear if the phone can power it, but I assume not. They supply the necessary cable to charge it, which is USB-A on the power supply end, but they DO NOT supply a power adapter... how cheap of them for such an expensive device. They supply a tiny case to hold it, and the power cord, but you'd be on your own as to where to store a power adapter. The device is small, so the battery inside is obviously very small, so I can't imagine it will stay working for much longer than 10 minutes or so. (Haven't tested running down the battery, yet.) If you wanted to leave it connected but save its limited power for when you would need it, you'd have to power it of with it's tiny, recessed, power button. It seems to me a smarter design would be for it to auto power up/down via the USB port of the phone when the corresponding (and necessary) app is started or stopped. All in all, as I don't expect to use it frequently, I fully expect when I do want...

Pat: Great piece of gear to have and works well but very disappointing it does not work with any of my phone cases ( lifeproof fre for iPhone 6, lifeproof nuud and fre for iPhone 7 and lifeproof nuud for iPhone 7 plus). I’m sure FLIR spent a pile of money on r&d for this new One Pro and obviously passes that cost onto consumers only to have a product that doesn’t do as they claim. Besides that the only other thing I didn’t like was the packaging, it nice ad all but looks very expensive. I would rather save 20 bucks off the device and just have a simple packaging that I’m just going to toss anyway. Just my 2 cents. Oh and no instructions at all not even a walk through in the app… nothing.

ConstantinConstantin: I just purchased this product, with some trepidation after reading some of the other reviews.
My experience was almost wholly positive. While I found the packaging unnecessarily fussy (i.e. the whole multi-layer thing of boxes inside another box that Apple made popular), the item arrived unscathed and was easy to install. FWIW, I use a simple Apple leather protector on my iPhone 6, so connecting was easy.
You have to turn the camera on before inserting it, apparently there is no auto-discovery once it has been connected and then turned on. But if you over come that minor issue, the App store comes up and several App suggestions are listed just for the camera. I selected the official FLIR software and a wetness checker and I was off the races.
The images the camera produces are nifty - the MSX mode uses feedback from the visual-light camera to make up for the fewer pixels that the IR camera has to produce a sharper-looking picture than the IR camera would have alone. However, this mode greatly benefits from lots of ambient light as the FLIR one lacks an illuminating LED and the visual-light camera has 2010 low-light performance. So ideally either operate in...
