We got this for our daughter for her 7th birthday. She has loved it, and learned to swim very well with it. After several years of use, the hard plastic cracked right in the center. If it was curved instead of a point in the center, I'm quite certain that it would not have cracked. However, with all the use and fun she got from it, I still give it five stars. Her feet are now a size 7, and this fin is now too small, it is too tight in the toe area.

I bought this for my daughter. As other users have stated, it doesn't stay on; two pumps of the legs with the dolphin kick and it slides right off! My daughter is an excellent swimmer, but is so disappointed she can't keep swimming like a mermaid because this mono-fin won't stay on. I haven't tried putting water shoes on her to see if that helps (like other users recommended). In my opinion, I shouldn't have to buy water shoes to make this product work. It's pretty, but not useful. Also, the fin isn't as wide as others, which I imagine would not help go as far/fast (if you could get it to stay on your feet). I'm very disappointed and if it weren't too late, I would want a refund. It's too bad I purchased this in the spring so that I would have it in time to sew her mermaid tail to go with it :(

I ordered fabric and made my daughter a mermaid tail to fit over her legs and this monofin. I sewed about 2 inches on the bottom of the fin part of the tail (on the left and right side) to hold the fin on. The mermaid tail I made helps to hold this monofin on. Again, I'm not happy about having to have other ways to make the fin...

My kid loves this mermaid tail. All of the kids who see her using it love this mermaid tail. They ask her to borrow it all of the time. Strangers come up to me asking where I got it. My only complaint is the plastic isn't very durable as this is our second one because (while we lost the first one) the tail cracked and it wasn't usable anymore. So I purchased another one for my daughter the following summer. She used it all summer but halfway thru, the plastic cracked again. Could be user error as my kids play with this thing none stop. Could be how it's stored. Who knows, but I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt simply based on the entertainment value it provided for my kids and those around her.

My eight year old has a thing for mermaids, and after seeing a friend of hers using a FINIS at the local pool, wanted on one in the worst way. FINIS didn't have any instock...Amazon to the rescue! Last night was the first time she got to use it. She's now even more like a little fish. I was actually surprised at how well it worked. She has little feet so we had to make the strap as tight as we could get it and it still occasionally falls off, which to her isn't a big deal....if she's happy, I'm happy.

My daughter L-O-V-E-S the tail and she swims in it EVERY time she goes swimming! She even sits in the Jacuzzi with it on. We went to a local fabric store and bought fabric and made it over her legs and tail and works amazingly!!! She even started a mermaid show on youtube called Mermaid Secrets. THEIR A HIT! it lasted for 2 years of swimming in it hundreds of times and doing a bunch of tricks. it finally split in the middle a little bit so she is swimming in it until we buy another. Its so cheap i don't mind buying it whenever it needs to be replaced because its so cheap! We were very happy how it turned out and would recommend it to anyone who wants one. The strap is adjustable and easy to slip on the heels, the plastic is sturdy and bendy for swimming, it has rubber on the bottom so it don't slips when wet, and is a perfect size for ages 5 to 13! The only thing I can think of that is bad is that you have to be carful on land not to hop because you will fall. Its an amazing thing for ocean and mermaid lovers so you would not EVER be disappointed about getting it. so I hope this helped you deciding to get this mermaid mono fin!
