Jacob: The tumbler was difficult to assemble. It took my dad and me a couple of hours of assembling and re-assembling to get it right. It's been almost a year that I've had it now, and it's quite sturdy. Both chambers are about half full, and black soldier fly larvae love it. The only downside is that after it rains, when you go to turn it, it will leak partially decomposed bio-goop that will most likely get on your hands. That and the grooves will collect rainwater and possibly splash you if you're not careful when you turn it. But yeah, since it's black, it heats up nicely in direct sunlight, and in the summer months, the contents break down in a matter of weeks. No smells (as long as it is regularly turned over), doesn't attract flies (as long as you don't put meat / animal products in it), provides a solid and sustainable location to dump kitchen scraps and plant trimmings. It's impressed me in its performance and durability, but the assembly could have been a lot easier / clearer in my opinion.

Kelly Skrimstad: Finally a way to compost my kitchen scraps while keeping critters out of my compost. It’s on the small batch size, however it processes fairly rapidly so it suits our needs just fine. I add a small amount of bone meal or accellorstorvnow and then so it processes fairly quickly … aerating without rotting. Makes good snack barcges of compost. It’s a nicely designed product. I’m pleased with ours.

Renee S Jean: I ordered this, but my husband assembled it. It took him a while. It comes in a relatively small, flat box. The drum is made up of several panels, it’s not a round drum.
We started using it right away and the first thing we noticed is it doesn’t hold a lot. It’s pretty small. The drum has a divider in it, so you load up one side and when that side is full and busy turning leaves and vegetable scraps and lawn clippings into nice dirt, you start filling the other side.
I don’t believe we got any directions, but I could be wrong. We did a lot of research and learned you cannot throw bread or other baked goods in, nor any meat scraps. We also learned that you can shred paper grocery bags and that really helps speed up the process. It did take us at least 6 months to finally find real dirt in our drum. Probably goes faster if you live in a warm climate. We live near Seattle and it’s always raining and cold.
I wish it was bigger, but it’s a nice starter composting system. For the price, it’s a good value. I recommend it.
