Ima: I've been collecting cookbooks for years, while I do try to get 1st editions, it's not always possible. This book is good. It appears in its original content as far as I kbow without some other author's interperative comments, opinions or antidotes, which shouldn't be added in my opinion, so this is great. I'm a purest that way. This is a lovely addition.

Margaret Davis: This book is from one of the best cooking schools.although it has been in reprint quite a few times it gives you so much information. Whether just starting out and cooking or an intermediate, looking for more advice, this is the book that you would start with. It gives you all the tips and tricks from the cooking school. I enjoy it thoroughly and I even learned things I didn’t know.

C. Stephens: I'm so very happy with this purchase!
It contains not only over 1000 period recepies from the late 1800s but it also contains genuine and accurate scientific knowledge, some of which I didn't even know before reading it!
It contains details on how raw materials were being produced as well as the uses for them and is overall everything I could want out of a historic cook book!
In summery : I wish every century had had a Fannie Farmer to send it off!
Edit : This book went above and beyond. It has become a connection to my family I never knew I'd have. I was discussing with my mother and my grandmother one of the recepies I wanted to try making. Specifically Boston Brown Bread. When I learned something incredible, something they never would have mentioned if I hadn't been talking about that recepie. My great great grandmother immigrated from Ireland to Boston THE YEAR THIS BOOK CAME OUT and made Boston Brown bread all the time for her daughter. Meaning the recepie in this boon might very well be exactly the one she was using!

Cami: ...then you will absoIutely love this book! I have been a Fannie Farmer's fan for quite a few years now and I just love the recipes! So when I came across this great buy, I could not resist.
When it arrived I was so excited, until I saw the actual book.
I now know why the price is as low of a price that it is. The book.is very small and with slightly aging eyes, is challenging to read at great lengths. I didn't think to look at the size/dimensions of this book before ordering it. I did not think it was a prerequisite before ordering a book. I assumed that as a recipe book with as many recipes it had included, this book would be the average size of recipe book. I did not think to check the measurements, as It is a book, not a cookie sheet or a bed sheet!
However, my love for these recipes have won out.
The only disappointment, I feel, is the size of this small, fat book. Due to its diminutive size and having so many recipes that it includes, which is it's redeeming quality, do not expect it to lie flat on the counter while you are cooking. it will be cumbersome to many to who read the recipe beforehand and refer to the book while making their dish of choice as it will...

Rosy Apple: I bought this item having bought later editions of Fannie Farmer's Cookbook (11th Edition and 13th Edition) to look at the cookbook from a more historical perspective. And for that reason, it's an interesting insight into how cooking has scientifically progressed and how much ahead of her time Farmer was. In regards to using this as a cookbook (as opposed to a historical reference), then perhaps it is lacking somewhat. The recipes will come across as bland, the selection boring, and the book itself perhaps a tad too small for practical use in the kitchen. Naturally the cookbook has updated itself throughout time and included more international cuisine, and so if you're looking for a cookbook you may also get practical use from and more fitting for current tastes, then look from the 11th edition and onwards.
So in total, this book is a charming edition to a pre-existing collection of cookbooks, should you want to look at the history of cooking (particularly in the USA), but if you're hoping to use this book for every day use, then perhaps take a look at the later editions on offer.

Rene Bear: Love this book, brings you back to a simpler time when you cooked what you had and supper was more for sustaining yourself than wasting money On Uber eats and door dash.
I love this kind of simple peasant food.
