Itsme: Purchased for a non-fanimation fan. The fan already has a similar wall control so I banked on this one working as well.
Install was easy. I just removed the wall switch and popped this one.
This one has places for you to connect the “hot” power to it so you can physically turn the power on/off. DC fans are designed to always have 120v current so turning it on/off is hard on it, resets the fan, and can cause screwy things to happen. The bottom switch should only be used as an emergency or when servicing the fan.
…which leads me to my next point. You can absolutely hardwire the fan on and bypass the 2 black wires on this fan switch and it will still work fine- this is important if you want 2 installed on either side of a room. One can be hardwired and one can just be installed behind a wall plate.
