WebbieWebbie: You get a lot of moss but it is not even close to the color of the picture. It wasn’t dry, so I am not sure why it is brown and not remotely green like the listing photo.

John BurmanJohn Burman: Ok, so the moss came green and beautiful in a bag that allows it to breathe. I had put it aside for a project and had forgotten about it for a few months. The moss has since browned and that's 100% my fault. It also started to grow mold, which again is my fault. Today I can say that it seems like it'll bounce back with some TLC. Point is, the moss is good quality. It comes with the root system intact, with some substrate. Which brings me to my next point. The bag says no pets. This is true, yet I found two isopods inside a few months back (which have since survived and are now added to my isopods culture of various unknown breeds). So it seems wherever this is growing has isopods. I must say, the isopods are beautiful, a nice orangey-marbled pattern. Yet, this may not be good for everyone. That said, ISOPODS ARE NOT PESTS. They are beneficial to a terrarium, and help keep rot under control. I'm not upset, yet I will say I had to mention it.

BeeDee: This mood moss is beautiful and I am pretty pleased with it for the price. I took off one star though because about 1/3 of the moss was brown upon arrival and I have not been able to bring it back at all. While the rest of it is thriving, I think I might have to toss the brown pieces. The portion that is healthy however, is gorgeous! The original plan was to use it in a terrarium but instead, I opted to use half to line a large potted plant's soil with it. It looks amazing and the two plants compliment each other beautifully. The other half is in bowl by itself on the coffee table. The "bowl of moss" is a simple yet elegant addition to the living room.
Mood moss is one of the easier mosses to take care of and it tends to bounce back after neglect. Keep it out of direct sunlight as it prefers shade and mist it regularly. The moss absorbs water through it's "leaves" since it does not have roots so it prefers to be misted rather than drenched.

Blake: -I have ordered this 3 times now (5 bags total). I will continue to do so as needed.
-First batch turned out the best. These were the steps that I took that I think really helped it and I'll be doing again with my latest batch (didnt do it with the second batch and it never greened up quite as nicely):
1) I trimmed the BOTTOM of the clumps off--they came dark/dead which is normal when light cant reach the lower parts of the plant as it thickens with growth. I trimmed it all the way up to where it starts turning green again and before the clump thins too much and falls apart (it grows almost in stems).
2) I soaked it with spring water for about a week and a half in a zip lock bag BEFORE adding to my project (make sure it has decent lighting, not direct sunlight though). I wouldn't worry about this if its going into an enclosed, humid environment like a terrarium. But if its gonna be on bonsai or exposed to open air, I'd soak it first. This step doubles as quarantining in case anyone's worried about hitchhikers. I'd do longer than 2 weeks for quarantining though.
3) ONLY USE DISTILLED OR SPRING WATER ON THIS. Do not trust your tap water.
-Honestly I would have...
