A. Gaston: It looks great! Also, doesn't smell like smoke or anything else, for that matter!
I'm happy with it!
Thank you!

Cole Mayhugh: Thorough, historically informed and theologically instructive. They offer you insights into the text that help you see it’s meaning more plainly and with a clarity that only comes from recognizing the structures, parallels, background and themes of the text.
I recommend 3 resources for OT studies that I believe should be a first-choice for anyone approaching it at a seminary level. I personally, am just a student of these things at my own home & have picked up a multitude of resources—these 3 stand tall.
1) Obviously this survey by Hill and Walton, they offer a contextual and formal introduction that is respectfully done.
2) A Biblical-Theological Introduction to the OT by Miles Van Pelt & staff — this Intro is theologically focused, which is sorely missed in most introductory studies today. An overemphasis on the historical can drown out the obvious truth floating at the surface of the entire Bible.
3) The Masters Seminary Old Testament introduction Lectures by Keith Essex, which can be found on YouTube. These are invaluable, fun and easy to consume from a pastor/scholar. I highly highly recommend them.
And if you have room for a...

Telebiopic: Great introduction and survey to the Old Testament. The text block is very interesting full of topical pictures, maps and diagrams. The book is heavy though thankfully it lays absolutely flat open on a table, unlike most other OT introduction/survey text books. The book is a bit light on countering criticisms, whether textual or philological, and mostly sticks to introducing Christian doctrines and viewpoints. This is my only grouse against this book, should have more meat on the bone, slightly more scholarly focus / solid refutations against liberal theories, book by book. However, this one makes for a great introductory first textbook on OT for laity and seminary. I am happy and grateful to have this book.

P.F.: Reading this text for a course. Thought it would be dry but have been surprised by how fascinated I am by the material. It's a very well laid out book and has sparked in me a great appreciation for OT study. Reader is led to explore God's character and nature revealed in the Old Testament scriptures. A treasure hunt awaits!

Amazon Customer: The reason for buying the product was that instead of having a hard copy i could have it. It is disappointing to know i can't flip to a specific page.
Other than that the book works well. I enjoy it 5/5

Bret James Stewart: This book provides a nice introduction to the books of the Old Testament in an accessible way. To begin with, the cover art is attractive. In fact, the book abounds with colour pictures and charts that really help the beginner or even the mid-level student/reader to understand the historical and cultural elements of the O.T. The pictures at the beginning of the chapters, in particular, really bring the book in question to life with a photo of something pertinent to that book.
This is a survey text, so it does not go super in-depth about the individual books of the Bible, but it does provide a nice overview. It addresses things you might expect, such as canonicity, genre, authorship, and the other basic information about the texts. The authors have no problem admitting something is unknown or they view it as unknown due to the evidence. There is a glossary and an index, which is helpful. A summary and segue to Christological aspects of the New Testament is present as are two appendices, one about the critical methodologies and one regarding the composition of the Pentateuch.
The book is divided into parts corresponding with the layout of the Bible, which makes it easy...

HRM039: I thoroughly enjoyed this overview of the Old Testament. I loved following the connections of families, countries and the marvellous work of God, our Creator. It leads us through the Old Testament and prepares the reader for what the Lord has prepared for us in the New Testament.
